So my Sylvan has pedestal slots in the floor that measure 2.5”. They don’t appear to be tapered either. I am needing to get a longer pedestal for the bow seat but having trouble finding something that fits. Am I missing something? Do I need to take the he old mount out and install a newer kind?

That black piece is supposed to stay in the hole.  When you lift the pedestal out, you should push that black button above it and theoretically, the black piece will stay down there and the pedestal/seat will slide up.

My Father has seats/bases/pedestals just like this in his Crestliner.  They are pure junk.  They get stuck a lot.  He eventually stopped using the adjustable pedestals and went to a fixed shaft style, which seemed to help some.

You can see that the black plastic is rotated such as to not allow that pin to come out and fasten inside the mount.

Align the slots and insert back into the mount and then press the black pin to remove the pedestal.

Thanks for the info! I see what you guys are saying about the insert. I’m not having any issues with this pedestal, it’s functioning just fine. The problem I’m having is the seat is entirely too low making it uncomfortable to operate the trolling motor. I need a taller pedestal but having issues finding one that fits this mount. Maybe I just need to remove this mount and go with the newer style with the small hole like you see on bass boats.

Are you looking for a longer lean-to seat pedestal?  They make them to fit that base.  I wouldn't take the base out.

Exactly what I’m looking for but can’t seem to find one anywhere.

I'll see what I can find for you.  Just bear with me here.  I may need to contact my old man since he uses the exact same pedestal/bases.

Have you looked at Atwood, Springfield or Overton’s?

I have found a short atwood extension that appears to fit however, I’m needing a long section and can’t seem to find that.

Springfield 1300902 adjustable pedestal post should work.
