steve carpenter Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Noticed on Tackle Warehouse. Anyone use them? Quote
Deeare Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Yes. They work. I don’t know why but they do. 1 Quote
Super User NorthernBasser Posted February 19, 2023 Super User Posted February 19, 2023 I bought a pack last year just to try. Wasn't expecting much. When I got home that night I ordered a bunch more. 1 Quote
steve carpenter Posted February 19, 2023 Author Posted February 19, 2023 Thank you. Will order. What size works best Quote
Super User webertime Posted February 19, 2023 Super User Posted February 19, 2023 3.5" 4 or 5/0 hook Quote
PressuredFishing Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 From what I read they where designed for skipping in mind but can also be fished in open water. To expensive for me though Quote
Super User FishTank Posted February 20, 2023 Super User Posted February 20, 2023 3.5 inch and a 4/0 EWG or 5/0 Wide Gap Plus Owner. Scuppernong Blue Flake has been favorite. I fish them either weightless or on a free rig with an 1/8oz weight. 1 Quote
Phelptwan Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Also, superglue/mend-it is your friend with this. They tear pretty easy. I've had good look with them where there is overhanging branches. Quote
KP Duty Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 There is some competition now, but no cost savings. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Fish_Arrow_Heavy_Poop_Stick_Bait/descpage-FAHP.html Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted February 21, 2023 Super User Posted February 21, 2023 man, the fishing industry doesnt protect their stuff under intellectual property laws? patent laws? there is so much copy-catting. 1 Quote

If you're a bank angler and need to distance cast something weightless and weedless, not sure there's anything more effective than the 3.5 or 4" scat. It's almost replaced any weightless t-rig for me. Prefer Ryugi Infini hooks with the cover scat. 1 Quote

I'll cast it out, let it fall to the bottom, then give it 1-2 short 'pops', letting it fall back to the bottom. Repeat. 1 Quote
txchaser Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 I'm looking forward to fishing them against a reverse rigged IKA. Apparently (per a video) they were made for fishing deeper in Japan on spots where they know fish are there but won't bite cranks or weighted presentations. The guy says they take forever to get down in deep water but they work so it's worth it. And they made it to snap off the bottom vs a slow lift. Looked for the video (in japanese) but couldn't find it. 2 Quote

I don't think there's a plastic on the market that casts farther than the 4". Yeah, pumping/ripping off the bottom and letting it fall back down horizontally, is what I do in most situations with the scat. 1 Quote
MontclairDave Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 I’ve been using the 3.5” green pumpkin candy and other GP variations. Amazing how far this thing casts on straight braid with my 7’ 1” Irod Power Finesse rod. (I fish murky water and so lately have not bothered with Fluoro leader). I feel like I’m Surfcasting with this set-up. Great for reaching deep water drop offs from the bank, or covering huge water expanse out of yak. And boy does it get bit. I’ve stopped throwing a weightless Senko because it doesn’t get me nearly as many bites, nor does it cast as far. Yes, somewhat fragile bait, prone to head blowing out on a regular EWG worm hook. Gonna switch to Owner Twistlock 5/0 and see if that makes a difference. May switch out the CPS spring with one size larger to make it an even more secure connection. And don’t overlook the 2.5” size for small ponds or when the forage gets really small. One more thing: yes, drop-and-jig retrieve works great. But I’ve gotten slammed when I was retrieving the bait back to me to throw again, and so this thing also can be used as a moving bait lure. It spirals as you move it and that action definitely will trigger fish at times. So mix up your retrieves with this bait (as with most others). Also agree it’s a great skipping bait but I still suck at skipping. The few times I did manage to skip it deep to the bank and under overhangs from my kayak, it got inhaled after 2 twitches, max. Just put in an order for another 4 packs. They’re a bit easier to find now than they were when this thread started. I’ve had most luck with the guys in Arizona who specialize in JDM baits. A bit better color selection than TW. Jesus this is a long post gotta get back to work! 1 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted August 30, 2023 Super User Posted August 30, 2023 So what’s next? Fighting Feces, the Pinch Off, Swamp Crapper, Latrine Log, the Corn Roll, Cat Box Critter????? Sheesh. 3 Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted August 30, 2023 BassResource.com Administrator Posted August 30, 2023 Yep, I discuss these in this video: Quote
RRocket Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 In light of this thread, I picked some up. I had avoided these because I thought they were expensive and "stupid". Boy, was I wrong. The fish can't leave these alone! Personal best today for quantity and it was my first time using this bait. I still can't get my head around how well this bait worked. Quote
steve carpenter Posted August 31, 2023 Author Posted August 31, 2023 Thank you all for the responses Quote

MontclairDave Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 So, I tried the Owner 5/0 screw lock with larger CPS spring. Definitely makes Cover Scat last longer. But even the 5/0 hook still doesn’t hit right position for sticking into the little hook-keeper bump at top of bait. So on every cast I have to grab bait and skin-hook it; it keeps popping out on every cast, especially when skipping. So I have yet to find the right hook that takes advantage of that bump. Maybe an EWG without screw lock, but start hook deeper in top of bait so the hook point comes down farther along the bait body? I’ll try that later today. Or I will try Ryugi 5/0 a lot of folks recommend. 1 Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted September 6, 2023 Super User Posted September 6, 2023 Here's the Ryugi 5/0 that lines up about perfectly with the blister on the side to bury the hook into. Agreed, the CPS would be nice to protect the nose cone of the poop better though... Quote
