roarlionsxc Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Does anybody use this hook for t-rigged dropshotting? I bought some and see that the hook is really light wire. Do you think that it would be better to use my 6'10 ML XF St Croix BassX rod when using this hook or my 7'1 M F Bass X rod? Quote
papajoe222 Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 For drop shotting, there are other hooks, IMO, that are better suited (designed) for it. As for the rods, it will depend on the line that you'll be using as much as the rod itself. If you'll be using braid, the M/F would work well. Quote
roarlionsxc Posted February 18, 2023 Author Posted February 18, 2023 I have straight 6lb invisx on the medium light setup and 15 lb braid to 8lb, sometimes 10lb invisx leader typically on the medium setup. Quote
Super User WRB Posted February 18, 2023 Super User Posted February 18, 2023 The #4107 Owner Cover Shot 3/0 has .045 D forged hook bend is made for T-rig soft plastics with mono loop keeper. Not familiar with G-Finesse hooks. Hook size wasn’t mentioned? Tackle should be OK. Set your drag accurately at 2 lbs for ML and 3 lbs for M with the line you are using. Tom 1 Quote

Tom it's a 1/0 hook, my apologies. Quote
Super User WRB Posted February 18, 2023 Super User Posted February 18, 2023 When you rig a smaller diameter soft plastic worm like 5”-6” Roboworms, Skin hook the worm. Suggest inserting the hook point-bend going through 1 side in lieu of the center. This rigging allows the hook point to pop out easily with less hook setting force. Tom Rvf 3 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted February 18, 2023 Super User Posted February 18, 2023 Like Tom mentioned above.... The Owner Cover Shot 1/0 - 4/0 have good for me. Great hook up ratios and they hold up well. I have tried the Gamakatsu version and they are not bad but I am not big on the bait keeper as it tears worms and once the bait is torn the bait keeper doesn't not hold the bait well. The bait keeper on the Owner is nylon and does a good job. Also, the bend on the Cover Shot is slightly bigger as well. I thought this would be an issue but it turns out to be the opposite. The hook will turn and penetrate easily. Quote
