Question About The Guntersville

I have a friend in Guntersville right now looking at houses. He would like to be near the lake and close to Huntsville where some family lives.

He is concerned that the area may be like the New Jersey shore in the summer. For those that don't know the Jersey shore is constant traffic, people, and turmoil in the summer. Not pleasant.

Can someone tell me what he can expect regarding crowds and traffic come summer in Guntersville and Scottsboro areas?

Thanks!

Huntsville around 3pm to 6pm is a traffic nightmare which is probably true most anywhere but summertime isn’t too bad around the lake. You’ll have your usual fishermen, water craft (boaters, sea-doos, etc) but not too bad. We’re heading up there next week so I’ll ask around and see if I can get any info from some locals for you.

I lived in Huntsville 20 years ago and it was great. I went back a couple years ago and it was way overcrowded. The area around Lake Guntersville is totally different than Huntsville. Towns like Scottsboro are downright sleepy on most days. I spent one spring in my RV at Goosepond a couple years ago and crowded is not a word I would use. I'm sure holiday weekends during summer are a little crowded but nothing unmanageable. There are tons of options for boating in the area. It's not like there is one marina that everyone has to fight over. The locals around Big G are very friendly. It definitely ain't Jersey!!!

Scottsboro ain’t crowded………. Never been to the actual town of guntersville but I would imagine it’s also tiny. The largest crowd will be bass boats

if you think Alabama is like NJ, you will be pleasantly surprised

My friend grew up near Section, AL just across the river from Scottsboro. I guarantee you will never experience a traffic jam in Section. It's small town livin for sure. I haven't been there in 20 years but I seriously doubt it has changed much.

My man asked if Guntersville Alabama is anything like New Jersey. I’ve never been to either but I can look at things and come away with a hypothesis….that’s an educated guess based on experience

I’ve fished Guntersville twice, once in the Spring and once in the Fall. The only crowd I ran into was the line at the Catfish restaurant at supper time and the boat ramps at launch time in the mornings.loved the place!
