I like fc for less stretch and sinking. But you’d be just fine with mono. Something like big game.

I’ve always trusted Big Game for most of my fishing in the past. I’m going to have revisit it. ??

I spooled up a new rod and reel last night for my son. Kind of an all around combo. Put 15lb big game on It. It can definitely be easier to deal with at times.

I also re-did my 4 spinning rods. 3 with 20lb braid to 12lb fc. 1 with 20lb braid to 16lb fc.
That one is a little heavier rod than the others and I use for underspins and weightless flukes in cover and like to be able to set the hook a little harder and pull them out.

I use 15# powerpro braid to a 8# Seaguar basix fluoro leader on my spinning set up. It is pretty versatile, so I can wacky rig around cover or fish for smallies in a clear stream no problem

Keep in mind Otter than my setups aren’t typical for this forum. I don’t finesse fish in gin clear water for smallies up north and on my lake in Texas I have a chance at 7-12 lb fish every cast. I don’t think largemouth are Line shy for the most part down here in our waters, so I up size everything.

I’m not convinced that bass are line shy at all. There’s something to be said for confidence though. If that’s your driving force, the lightest you can get away with after considering other factors.

I tend to agree. Fifty percent of me thinks it does not matter. The other 50 percent thinks it does matter so I use a leader most of the time, especially in clear water. But, and there is a "but" and that is I think some lures fish more realistically on lighter line.

The general consensus is for finesse presentations you want between 6# and 8#. Some fluorocarbon runs thinner than others and some runs thicker as well.

Last year I was using Daiwa J-Braid Samurai 7# which is a good all around diameter if you only carry one with you.

Always be sure that your leader strength is less than the expected strength of your leader knot, NOT the strength of the main line. Using the main line as the guage is a common mistake even among experienced fishermen. People get away with it because braid is generally stronger than stated, but it can bite you good at just the wrong time.

I would fish 10-14lb fluorocarbon. Remember: High quality Fluorocarbon is a full line size smaller than mono. Also, always use fluorocarbon that is marketed as leader. The large bulk spools not marked as leader tend to have inadequate stretch and less abrasion resistance.

I fished spinning all the time. I fished  finesse style. 3 rods from UL, L, ML

I use 6lb j braid grand and 8 lb. Floro leader ranging 4lb to 8lb It depends how I I'll be fishing that day. FC sniper

Is my line of choice.

Thankyou for mentioning that about the line size and also about specifically going with the leader lines. This helps much man.

Man-made lakes lakes dominate the landscape here...in the past 15-20 years Game and Parks have been leaving timber standing...which creates this : )

All my bait-casters are spooled with straight 20lb braid.

I will throw my spinning rods with braid to leader when working NED, Senkos, drop shot...I don't mind if I break off now and then. Remember, a 5lb bass is "Master Angler" here in Nebraska.

This lake is stocked with Northern Pike. When I'm fishing bait-caster + braid, not a problem. Spinning rod with braid-leader...we call that a "drive-by-murder".....** PLINK ** and your lure is gone!

A LOT of pike and muskie where I fish! You have no problem with straight braid for those guys? I don’t want to lose a lot baits and lures but if you’re saying you regularly fish a pike stocked lake with straight braid, I’m willing to try it out.
