please tell me your joking, no way in hell that that boat going 82mph with a 150 engine

Posted

I dont know that it will do 82 with a 150 but ill say that it will run real close to it if its a mod 150 laser are fast boats

yall can say what you want but i would be willing to bet good money that that boat with any 150hp engine would not even come close to 82.

Yes that's what I said. We have a 21 ft ranger 391 v with 150 that's just got holes poked in the exhaust and an SS prop that's hitin 67 and that's a heavy boat. Keep in mind my dad has been a boat mechanic for 30 years,

I would agree.. I don't think a 150 would get 82 no way no how..even if the cylinders are bored....but none the less looks like a solid boat for 1500..

Ok so what you guys are say that there is no way a 150 will push a bass boat 82mph well get your money out because your WRONG

Posted

I would be willing to bet money. Obviously some people don't know anything about boats. You get a boat that weighs nothing with a modee 150 it will do well worth that. I can say I have never rode in it but. I goin by our ranger with a 150 21 ft boat.

i never said the no boat on the planet could go 80+ with a 150... learn to read, i said that that boat would never go 80+ with a 150

It's doubtful that boat went 82. Note "doubtful" but definitely not impossible. If the boat is set up properly and "modded" which would mean it's putting out more than 150 ponies, it would definitely be possible. Which the fact that this boat is bored .30 over could either mean it was modded for speed or the previous owner needed to bore it to remove scratches in the cylinder wall. Also if it is a tunnel hull it will have less drag than a standard v-hull.

Now back to the TOPIC... Sounds like a great buy, especially with your dad being a boat mechanic. You guys will have that thing hauling in bass in no time. Those old 150 mercs are work horses too. So buy it, clean it up and see if it'll do 82. Even if it only does 60 you still got a solid boat for the price.

LMAO @ 67 in a 21' Ranger with a 150

ROFLMAO @ 82 in that boat

Either way I would avoid it. You can scoop up a nice Tracker or Aluminum in much better shape and newer for $1500 to 2k.

How you get that its a 17 ft boat lasers don't weigh anything and the motor is a 175 bored.

Who are you talking to  , that's twice you've asked this same question.

You obviously don't have a lot of money to spend.

Because of that, I'd stay way far away from that Laser.  Way too old and with a heavily modded engine??

Im not really sure why it matters and the thread got off topic... there are people with 9.9's that will outfish the majority of people who are running 250's, they just can't afford them.   I can't stand the mainstream school of though that you have to be fast to be good.  A majority of want-to-be bass fisherman just get to their holes faster to not catch any fish.  They are more worried about runnning fast and keeping their rides pretty then catching fish.  Running anything over 60 isnt really safe on a majority of waters anyway.

Im not saying getting places faster isnt necessary... I've owned larger motors myself... but talking about speed like its something UBER-important is ridiculous.   If it matters that much then your professional and shouldnt be wasting alot of time on bassresource boards arguing over how fast a certain boat can go by +- 15 mph.

If that 150 is moded, a 17 ft boat could hit 80 definately.  You've not been around anything other than a big fat heavy bass boat if you think otherwise.   But with speed and weight you sacrifice ride and many times stability.

Anyways,  back to the topic,  for $1500, I find it hard to believe its a bad deal if everything checks out OK... I dont know anything about the brand, but if its in good condition itll sure do everything you need.
