Seriously I have been fishing downsized baits and rigs that they now call BFS and it does produce. I will try the Mojo rig.

If you Google "Mojo Rig",  descriptions will vary.  A Mojo rig for bass is an ultralight Carolina Rig.  I fish this rig on 8 pound mono and a spinning outfit.  Years ago, anglers used split shot crimped a foot or so ahead of a soft plastic bait.  The spit shot tended to get caught up in whatever was on the bottom.  A Mojo weight is a small cylindrical weight held on with rubber spinnerbait skirt material.  A special tool is used to thread the line through these weights.  Mojo weights easily slide through rocks and grass.  If they get caught, the rubber slips down to the weight instead of breaking off.  I use 1/4 oz. Mojo weight. The best bait I have found for a Mojo rig is a 4" Zoom Finesse worm or lizard. A Mojo rig will catch bass when nothing will.  Years ago I won a tournament on Rodman in the dead of winter using a Mojo and a 4" lizard.  I may have been the only one who caught fish that day.

I will catch a lot of grief but here goes. I gave up on a spinnerbait a while ago. I might fish one at night occasionally but during daylight hours I just don't.

Me too. I don’t think I could catch a cold using a spinnerbait.

Big swimbaits, Glides or Wakes sold them and no longer have the tackle needed to fish.

Don’t have any chatterbaits, spinnerbaits or buzz baits today.

Drop shot and slip shot rigs are a mainstay where I fish if you want to catch bass. Haven’t used a traditional C-rig in decades.

No deep diving crank baits or tackle to use them with.

Don’t have a boat so can’t troll or anchor.

Haven’t fished with live bait in fresh water in decades.

Kind of old you know!

I really don't enjoy dropshots, and like many of you, they are responsible for the smallest fish of the day anyway.  I've pretty much given up on the ned for the same reasons. I've had more success with other presentations that are more interesting than the ned anyway.

However, don't sleep on the bubba shot. You can throw it on about anything, and with a weedless rig it makes a great presentation right next to cover when the fish aren't face down on the bottom. 12-18" seems plenty long, and you can throw it on whatever baitcaster you have around. 6" netbait t-mac trick worm, or a similar roboworm. Also, while you are 'not supposed to fish it horizontally' it seems to do a nice job fished that way when there's sparse weeds on the bottom but you want to move more slowly.

Tell her you are thinking of taking up equestrian or sail boat racing, $80k boats, $500 reels, and $25 JBs will seem like a bargain.

Or even golf...

No wacky rigs for me.   I've had good luck with most of the stuff people have gave up on though.

Buzzbaits. I see no reason to ever fish one.

I haven't fished with anyone in 3 years that caught anything but Pickerel on a buzzbait.  I remember slaying on them 20 years ago but they have majorly fallen out of favor for me.
