What tactic have you completely given up on?

Drop shot for this guy.  I'll admit I never gave it much of a chance anyways, but I think I'm done with it for good.  Its like watching paint dry.  I can't do it.  I just can't.

Live baits, I would rather stay home.  To me its just not fishing.  For me the fun is getting the fish to hit hit your bait because you fooled them with what your doing.  Changing the techniques until you find out what they want that day, that hour, that minute.  To me using live bait is no challenge, that's why people use it so much when taking a four year old out for his first fishing trip.  The bait does all the work.

It's probably a shorter list of what tactics I use. I've realized there's probably a handful of tactics that will work at any given time, and with any luck it's one of the ones I use.

Carolina Rig. It never worked well for me. So, I'm done with it - for good.

Live baits

I never really considered the use of live bait to be a bass-specific tactic or presentation, although I'm sure some do.

Which brings up another unconventional strategy that I despise: trolling.  Although I don't really do it anymore, I never really found it appealing even though it was very effective at times.

Ned rigs. Just a pride thing I guess.

Deep diving crankbaits.  I never had any luck with them years ago, and I haven't fished with one since I got back into fishing.

Poppers. I'd did great on small wake baits last year. Nothing came close for numbers, so it wasn't a topwater thing. I got "1" bass on a Popmax last year. One bass! Poppers can Kiss My Azz!

Yea - I hear ya @PhishLI

There's a lot of those baits out there that are mostly defective.

The nerve of some people.

Luckily, I have been (unofficially) designated as a national Pop Max Recycling Center.

So if you'd like, you can simply send those horrible baits straight to me.

Then you can take solace in knowing that I will make sure they get what's coming to them.

It’s never worked for me for bass either, but it’s killer on catfish.

Agree on the drop shot. I'd rather fish for carp.

I haven’t abandoned any lures, but if I did , dropshot and Ned rigs would be top of the list. One bass each and they are constantly fouled by leaves and algae.

I can't say given up. I would say never wanted to try it. That's the drop shot. Just never had the desire to try it out. There are enough ways to catch a fish I like. Plus it keeps me from needing to buy more crap. Now if someone was fishing next to me and was smashing them and I wasn't. Yes. I would start using it.

You guys have hit my triggers. Carolina rigs and drop shots are both things that I know work for other people and I want to love. Neither has done anything for me though.  I’ll throw one once a year in an obvious scenario where it should work and get bored after ten minutes.

I’ll have to dig up a box with your address on it and send you a couple just in case you have a change of heart.

Save the postage & handling.

You've got a better chance seeing The 'Intuitive Angler' using a FC leader,

than me ever throwing another Glide bait.

Me too. Chatterbaits and lay downs don’t mix.

I havent given up on them just yet but toads art the most frustrating lures I    have fished. Everytime I think I'm making some serious headway, I then miss a bunch in a row .

Another vote for Carolina Rig.

Honorable mention - Chatterbait.

I snagged my last Chatterbait last year and was completely OVERWHELMED with Joy.

I don't use Ned rigs, dropshot, or Carolina rigs any more. Might as well add frogs in there to. I have used them once in many years.

Big swimbaits, Glides or Wakes sold them and no longer have the tackle needed to fish.

Don’t have any chatterbaits, spinnerbaits or buzz baits today.

Drop shot and slip shot rigs are a mainstay where I fish if you want to catch bass. Haven’t used a traditional C-rig in decades.

No deep diving crank baits or tackle to use them with.

Don’t have a boat so can’t troll or anchor.

Haven’t fished with live bait in fresh water in decades.

Kind of old you know!
