Super User Boomstick Posted February 10, 2023 Super User Posted February 10, 2023 I got my largest two bass on a dropshot last year. I also had a hell of a year with a drop shot. I would wager I will get my best bass on a jig in 2023. Possibly spinnerbait too (I've got a few nice ones on spinnerbaits). 3 Quote
txchaser Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 If I get to Ivey, probably an a-rig. If I don't, flatside squarebill. 1 Quote
Finessegenics Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 I think it’ll be a spinnerbait. It’s only taken the title as my biggest fish of the year once, but on average it produces the biggest fish for me. 3 Quote
stratos4me Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Frog....good for an 11-8 last year. Runner up is a jackhammer. 1 Quote
Super User Munkin Posted February 13, 2023 Super User Posted February 13, 2023 Here is my plan to catch my PB SM this year. Buy some perch colored jerkbaits, gather some chatterbaits, drive up to A Jays house in the beginning of May to be his net man on chunkymonkey lake. Since he is catching all the 6lbers I will settle for the table scrap 5lb SM. Allen 1 1 Quote

JediAmoeba Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 My biggest bass of 2023 will come on a Black Talon Donk or a Toxic Baits Wad3. Hopefully I can push up over 8 lbs this year. Quote

Zcoker Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 My biggest bass this year (so far) came off a slow sinking 6th Sense Trace swimbait. She was pushing 9lbs. I tossed the bait into a little cove that was flat slick right next the the edge of a pennywort line. The bait hit the water and then I started a slow retrieve. Next thing I know a giant wake, then double wake, then triple....looked like a massive dark ominous submarine coming strait at the bait pushing all these giant wake swells. I slowed the bait to a near stop and then boom! One of the best hits that I have ever seen this year (so far). Quote

Super User senile1 Posted February 14, 2023 Super User Posted February 14, 2023 For a while now I have been catching a few 5 to 7 lb Missouri fish each year on Siebert Outdoors half ounce Grid Iron Brush jigs with Rage Tail Craws. These are almost always caught on two color combinations: Green pumpkin jig with watermelon red flake craw, and black/blue jig with black/blue craw, although sometimes the black/blue with the okeechobee craw color is the ticket. A few are caught in the winter on green pumpkin or black/blue Siebert finesse jigs with the same color finesse trailer. These jig fish aren't always the biggest for the year, but most years they are. I have to go with one of these jig and craw combinations based on the probability indicated from past years. 1 Quote
Chris Cavanaugh Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Small ill go with the Nomad Designs Shikira 115 jerkbait, though I want to say the Rapala OG tiny Coosa. LmB my PB was 8-4 on a 6 inch Manns black worn Texas rigged weightless dropping off the top of cover. I fish less Texas rig lately so I am going to go with a walk the dog type. 2 minutes ago, Chris Cavanaugh said: Small ill go with the Nomad Designs Shikira 115 jerkbait, though I want to say the Rapala OG tiny Coosa. Super User A-Jay Posted October 10, 2023 Author Super User Posted October 10, 2023 So, I'm bringing this one back so that I can put a cap on it one way or the other. In the OP, My Pick to Click for the biggest brown bass this season was the Z-Man Mini Max Chatterbait with a Goby swimbait trailer. Hasn't happened yet and I've been fishing it with due diligence mostly all season. Also in the OP I said that if I selected a jerkbait, it would be low hanging fruit. Well, I am officially a knucklehead (but you already knew that). Because my second bass of the season is, so far, my biggest. Bet you can guess what she ate . . . .wait for it . . . . A Megabass Vision 110 silent jerkbait. She was 6.06 lbs of bronze exquisiteness Either way history indicates that I've got something like 3 maybe 4 weeks of fishable conditions ahead of me. And in order to top that beauty I'll probably need to be on bigger water. Late season that can get a little sketchy. We'll see how it goes as I'm still keeping the faith. Day after tomorrow looks like my next fishing day, but I'm planning on switching gears and going back to my roots. I'll be fishing Lake Minichuck out of the Old Town Canoe. Should be fun. Can I catch lightning in a bottle ? More to follow . . . . Fish Hard A-Jay 12 Quote

In 2022 I caught 10 over 5 pounds. The biggest (7 lbs 13 ounces) came on a texas rigged motoroil worm that I threw where something had just rolled on my Devils Horse. Mrs B's biggest of 2022 came the same way, the same day. So far this year my 2 biggest are 6.00 pounds, and 6.02 pounds. My prediction was true so far. One came on a T-rig, the other on a Devils Horse. Ironically the one on the T-rig was in 5 feet of water. The one on a Devils Horse came from a brushpile that was ~20 feet deep. I've only caught 5 over 5 pounds this year but I'm hoping big fall bass are just around the corner. 3 Quote
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted October 10, 2023 Super User Posted October 10, 2023 Biggest this year is 7.31lb on a Coda Lures Apex All-Purpose Jig with a rage craw trailer. Blue craw (ish) color with the claws dipped in Spike It. Lake Somerville on April 1st Then I proceeded to skunk for many trips after. Stupid lake 😡. Funny how it still gave me biggest bass though 7 Quote
