**Edit**

My biggest bass of '23 will be caught on 3/4 uoze swim jig w/ a 6" gambler GZ at night.

This a tough decision. A Bull Shad Wake Bull will likely pull my biggest daylight bass but a D & M quad buzzbait in black will be my night-time bait. Can we have a day & night bait??

The real question is will it be bigger than the 13-14lb fish you caught......man I'd quit after that fish ?

If @WRB didn't quit,

then none of us are even allowed to consider it as an option . . . .

That fish was out of my little pond, so I'm talking public water big fish baits. Pond fish don't really count, right??

Lake St Clair, the elusive 7 lb small on a chrome plated blade bait during a March trip if the weather holds here is SE Michigan. My two sons have topped 6.5's  the last two seasons early in the year.

I'll go 7 lbs 2 oz on March 25, if for no other reason that will be the week of my birthday.

An aquarium 13+ is epic in my book.

Any wild Bass is the same to me in all honesty(my PB was caught in a small pond in Auburn), If they lived in the sewer, I'd be down there ?

I hear ya, nothing beats a captive audience. Every February & March I usually catch a obese girl or two out of my pond. For a 1 acre pond it's impressive. Took me years of removing fish to get them growing.

After last year's spinnerbait showing (caught my 3 biggest), its tough to say something other than that. But a popper has taken my biggest fish 4 of the last 6 years. I spend a lot of time throwing both, but I guess recency bias dictates that I go with the spinnerbait. Specifically a 3/4oz Strike King Tour Grade copper and bronze double willow with a "Green Tomato" skirt, trailing a 3.25" Rage Swimmer.

I lost my biggest fish of ‘22 fishing grass with a red lipless in the spring. I plan to put that fish in the boat in ‘23.

lure prediction = red lipless

Maybe this is TMI, but there was a period in my life where I had recurring dreams of catching bass is strange places within unknown catacombs inside of buildings that I worked in.

I don't even own either one of these baits (Bait Monkey, I curse in your general direction), nor have I seen any in person.

In 2021, literally every bass I caught succumbed to a soft plastic bait. That changed a little in 2022, but not too much. I have fantasies of giving reaction baits more effort this year and reaction baits have given me more big bass than any others. So, what the heck, I'll go on record and play with this offering:

Daiwa Prorex Bessie 170 (either floating or slow sink) - color: Muskie or Cisco

or it's baby brother:

Nishine Abino 110F in juvenile bass color

I’m in upstate NY and my biggest will be 8+lbs.

While rare, there is no doubt some 8# class fish swim in the waters we fish! Love the optimism!

Fishing some southern waters now, but it is winter. A biggun could be caught on a small finesse lure, so I’ll say Tiny Child Rig - catches the Big Fat Lady ?

Having a few jigs made locally using my jig and looking forward to getting back to using soft plastic trailers to catch more numbers of bass.

My plan for 2023 is to fish Casitas, Castiac and Cachuma this year if invited. All 3 lakes have more water with flooded 10 to 15 years of brush growth, challenging for sure.
