Hi, I live in Northwest Iowa I am tired of the ice and getting ready to head south to try and find open water. Can anyone tell me where the open water starts? And if the fishing has been any good?

Your best bet would be at least as far South as Table Rock, Bull Shoals or Grand Cherokee/OK. There are guides that post weekly on YouTube from each of those lakes that can tell you how the fishing is and what’s working.  It can be tough in Feb but improves March/April.

If you want to make the trip to the Tennessee River, we have hundreds of miles of open water. From east of Knoxville to the Ohio river in Kentucky. The fishing is usually very good. I have never been skunked there. We also have lots of really good lakes. Dale Hollow, Center Hill, ect.

Just got back from Headwaters lake in Fellsmere, FL and it just so happens that there was a husband and wife staying in our group of cabins from Iowa.  ?

Table Rock has a great winter bite and isn't a bad drive from Iowa. Don't believe anything you read about the powerplant lake in Kansas, you'll leave disappointed.

Lakes in GA are all open but bass fishing has been tough for me lately.  However the stripers are eating if you can find them.  Hint, follow the birds.

I would recommend this be the first song you play when pulling out of your driveway
