I’m far too young to be saying this but in my life I’ve lost more of who I’ve loved than I have left and yesterday added another one and I’m really not taking it well guys.

Groot was Frost’s best friend from the day they met. We adopted him as a maturing puppy. Someone else had clearly loved him before because he was well trained and loved to snuggle from the day we met him.
He was such a handsome boy and loved burying bones in the invisible dirt and throwing a piece of lettuce up in the air.
He did NOT like when the doors to his kennel or crate were touched, but was otherwise a tolerant and gentle soul.
He could appear scary at first impression bearing his teeth and giving a snarl with a back scratch or belly rub, but that was just his weird way of letting you know he wanted more.
He was the epitome of the stereotypical husky breed smart and stubborn but as loyal as they come. At times I was sure he was some strange breed of cat, licking his paws, avoiding water and even purring on the regular when rubbing his belly.
He loved chasing squirrels and even once snatched a bird clean out of the air from a laying down position.
Though he truly loved Frost, very commonly allowing her to lay her head on him or touch paws and following her everywhere. He also loved his alone time to play tug or fetch with a rope. In fact, he would only play fetch or tug when it was just him.
Despite my anxiety about his temperament and worrying about him interacting with August, he was so gentle and curious with August. I wish they would have gotten to grow together a bit more. He was a protector always looking out over the deck surveying the landscape.

He crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday , suddenly and unexpectedly shortly after his favorite activity of sniffing out squirrels in the park. He was a lively and spunky 8 years old. Rest in peace buddy.

Sorry for your loss, Groot was such a handsome pup.   May he RIP.

Most good animals are better than people I've found, I'll never forget or really get over losing my two best cats, one from childhood, one from about 5 years ago.   Just sucks.    They are so loyal, don't ask much in return.   Time helps though friend.

My condolences on your loss...it never gets easier. If you're a dog person you are fated to face that loss again and again. I am too and I have.

I'd be  comforted by the fact that your pal died after doing what he loved...it's a kinder fate, a better departure, than a slow cruel decline. I would hope the same fate for myself.

Spirit of the Stars

When your heart cries for Groot, look to the stars.

He is within your sprit forever.

I’m sorry for the pain you’re going through. My best buddy died this year and I know it sucks. I wish I would have taken photos of her the way you did with Groot.

This is the inherent tragedy of having pets. You're likely to outlive your pets, so you experience this sadness over and over again.

I think I'm going to go pet the fur off of one of mine...

Sorry for your loss man. Seems like just yesterday my golden was a wild little puppy

Now she's 10 years old, white faced, and gets around pretty slow except when she gets a big burst of energy. It goes so fast, it's so hard to lose them, but I don't know what I'd do without them.

Still loves them boat rides.

I know how bad your heart aches when you lose your best friend. My wife and I lost our 16 year old bichon yesterday.
