Some Bass around a submerged tree.  The second picture is one of them.

So is that 4 Bass I count, or are some of the other smaller returns fish or Bass as well?

There's bass on both sides of the tree.  They were swimming around, not just sitting there.   IIRC I caught 4 at that tree.  I took the picture after catching a couple.  I need to make a video of fish swimming around.

I just added Mega 360 to my boat and now thinking I want FFS too.

If money was no object, I'd have it and have the ducer mounted on one of these:

I use spot lock a lot in wind and would definitley want it free to look around while facing into the wind.

This is the second trip to Florida with an attempt to use FFS both were total failures.  First was on Okeechobee and the vegetation we fished did not allow any clarity whatsoever and the transducer was nothing more than a grass harvester.  The second trip which we just got back from was a week on Headwaters where we were so shallow and in such thick hyacinth, Kissimmee grass, Lilly pads, milfoil, reeds and flooded orange orchard that once again it was useless. We resigned ourselves that before our trip next year we are taking all of the FFS equipment off the boat.  Now back here in Virginia in the lakes and rivers we fish it’s wonderful.

I spent $600 on a lsmount for my garmin force - paying $1000+ for a powered mount is stupid (but i would still pay that amount if lsmounts wasnt around)

I put my lsmount on Friday after work.  I like it.  I fished in 10 to 15 mph winds yesterday (with higher gusts) and was able to keep my transducer pointed the way I wanted it.

@HenryPF  call LSmounts and tell them you want a kickback for the sale.  I had never heard of them.

Whoever makes them (any company) should really think about making these with a durable quick release clip to shorten/extend the pole itself as I know many times a lot of people would rather have the LVS transducer completely out of the water and not in use for extreme shallow water fishing/and not turning it into a giant weed catcher when cruising through the jungle like when you frog fish.

Much like a tripod legs or like the quick release clips that tighten to extend the pole on a Powerstick Gen4. Type of clips shown below at 1:50 mark.

Any update on this thread? Anyone have a system they recommend?  I have a garmin kraken so can’t use any of the turrets. I try to get downwind but sometimes it’s not possible. So wanted to look into a separate ffs mount. Anyone have any recommendations…looking for clean look and easy deployment. Would prefer something that is mounted to the boat similar to a trolling motor (as opposed to a pole that I have to leave on the deck when going from spot to spot). I have a bay boat and so not easy to strap down on the deck.
thanks everyone

Looks like I have to go with a hand controlled pole. Any suggestions?

I used a Fishing Specialties mount when I had my Tracker. It was removable and attached to their rail system. It even had a removable handle for storing nicely. When I moved to my Crestliner I bought a Tackleshack Ultrex Live Pole mount. I didn’t like it to be honest and removed it so I just mounted the transducer to my Ultrex and run like that now. It’s just easier for me.

If anyone is near SE Pa and needs a solution, hit me up. They are both collecting dust in my garage and I don’t have the heart to just toss them but at the same time, I don’t have much interest in boxing them up to ship.

Cool thanks. So you didn’t feel like it was that much of a benefit over having it on the trolling motor?  I just get frustrated when fishing in wind, trying to track my target while also trying to stay in place. Just seems like a constant battle. Would be nice to use spot lock and have a separate system for the lvs. Just don’t know about having a separate pole…got a feeling it will be a pain in the butt.

It is a huge benefit if you’re a crappie angler. I’m not too into crappie but a separate pole was the solution on my Tracker as there was not an easy was to mount a transducer to that TM. Since moving to the Crestliner with an Ultrex, I thought I would keep the same flexibility I had on my Tracker so I bought that Tackleshack system, mostly for a friend who is way more into crappie fishing than I am but in the end, it was just too convoluted to me so I went straight TM mount.

Yeah that makes sense. I need it to be as simple and easy as possible, otherwise I know I won’t use it as well

I mainly fish in large rivers like the Tennessee with currents over 1MPH. If I face trolling motor upriver to control my drift, I cannot use my FFS on the banks. This is where I'm searching for an answer. What are your thoughts in my situation? If you think it may be helpful, please re-consider the hassles of boxing up one to ship. If you become interested, please PM me to give price.

Thanks

In your situation, a separate pole fits your fishing style well. I’m a mover so I point, cast and use the pedal to follow my lure and then rinse and repeat. If I find a pile of them I’ll just use the pedal to keep me holding and point as needed.

Separate motorized pole mount is the way to go if you use spotlock. They can be made fairly easily and for a lot less if you have access to a machine shop or have a buddy who does. I spent more on a bracket from Hennessey to mount it (Target Lock + 360 mounting plate for trolling motor) than I did for the rest of the system combined.

Yeh I would love to do that but they don't make a bracket yet for my tm...

If you come across the right person, I’m sure they could make a bracket

yeh it's just a little more complicated.  The garmin kraken and terova line of trolling motors slide down the shaft and into the water...so there's no place really to put the bracket.  But I'm sure someone will figure it out.  I know one or two companies I have spoken with have plans to work on it but not sure when that will be.  So for now, I guess I have to have a separate pole mount.

Well for motorized, find a used minn kota powerdrive or  XI3 and chop off the lower unit and throw the lvs32 or 34 on the end of it. You will still have the issue of a cable not being tucked on the shaft for a clean look unless you are super handy and can run the transducer cable in the shaft.

Or find a used minn kota edge or similar and do the same but scissor mount and foot pedal.

Welp problem solved if you bought a kraken! No stupid cable mounting baloney where you have a coiled wire running down do the transducer on the motor.
