Ha yep...weve got several feet of snow laying around and 15in ice on the local pond. My buddies went perch fishing yesterday because the wind chill " warmed up" to 25. I always heard that you make sure to hold the fish perfectly vertical, and if horizontal support the rear of the fish. Is there more to that, or is that the proper way? Quote

Larger bass have thick jaws and holding the bass by the side of the jaw as in picture doesn’t stress the jaw. holding Horizontal you use the same jaw grip and lift and rotate the bass horizontal.
