After reading a lot of reviews on BR and on the Internet, I decided to try some Sunline Shooter Defier for my main Texas rig set-up (Daiwa Fuego FGCT100XS on a Falcon Lowrider All ‘Round Fast LFC-7MHF). It’s 15 lb. test (0.013”). I have been using 12 lb. Berkley Big Game (0.014”) so it’s just a bit smaller in diameter for a slightly stronger line. It’s dark green, which should do well in the pond I fish.

I will say from just spooling it and tying on a 4/0 Gamakatsu EWG, it seems a bit stiffer. Seemed easy to tie knots with, which I guess is due to its purported slipperiness.

Fished with it for ten minutes just to check it out. Seems to cast rather well and was more supple in the water than I thought it may be. I read one review that said not to use an Improved Clinch knot as the line is very smooth and they don’t hold well. That’s 90% of the knots I tie for terminal tackle. I was casting an 5” X-Zone True Center Stick on a 4/0 EWG with a 3/16 oz. tungsten bullet weight and the distance was very good. I “hooked” a large branch that at first I thought was a nice bass (it seemed like it fought a bit lol). I was able to reel it in and release the hook and the knot held fine, but we’ll see how it fares when I actually hook a bass with it.

All-in-all, I’m pleased with it at this point.

I fish all braid with leader if necessary but have seen many pros/club anglers use Sunline lines. If I went to a non braid line I would definitely try out Sunline products.

I spooled up some sunline sniper FC after always running braid. Great line but I ended up taking it off and going back to a braid to leader combo. I just prefer the feel of braid. I hate that disconnected feel I get from other line types.
