I don't remember who was asking about this last week, maybe the week before. I received my BPS Fishing Master catalog today. It's 599 pages. Also, the big Spring Fishing Classic sale will be March 9th through the 29th. They will be continuing the rod and reel trade in program.

Thanks for the update. I will probably be at the spring classic sale like normal if they have the right stuff on sale.... Though lately they seem to be moving away from sales on name brand stuff and focusing more on their BPS branded stuff.

I DID stop doing the trade-in program though when I started realizing it only equated to about a 15% discount. I can buy what rods or reels I want on other sales and save the same amount and still have my old stuff I can give to family, friends, or local kids.

I took advantage of this last spring with a rod.  Saved me $35.

I've got one old reel left that I would trade in. The only thing that they check is if the handle turns, usually they don't even do that. @FrnkNsteen, you're correct about the discount. However, if the rod that you want is on sale, they discount it even further with the trade. You can save more than the 15%. And, like you, I keep my better stuff as back ups or to give to family and friends.

I only had one too.  I am not one to keep older items when I replace them with something new though.  I hate clutter.

I am also not one to buy a rod or reel without looking at it, picking it up, and inspecting it in person.  Just personal preference on that sort of thing.  The Cabela's I frequent has a pretty good selection.  I ended up buying a St Croix Mojo BC rod and put a Shimano SLX on it.

The OCD in me can't help but wonder...why couldn't they squeeze in one more page to get to 600??

I know!!! I said the same thing to my beautiful wife, she rolled her eyes ?.

I'm with you, I hate stuff laying around unorganized. When I was tournament fishing, I pretty much had a back up rod and reel for every one in the boat. I know, I'm crazy but I'm good with it. Same reason I buy baits 2 or 4 at a time per color and size. Anyway, I've since given away all of my spare rods and reels other than one reel.

As an aside, I once bought an entire box (12) of H20 Express craw colored crankbait's. The main reason was because they couldn't keep them in stock. I was there the day they got a shipment. Told the guy I wanted all of them. Both he and my ex-wife said "all of them?".

Got mine today. Technically, it might be 600 pages!

The inside of the back cover says 599. So I'm like "ok, they don't count the back of the magazine as a page, makes sense". Buuut, if you go to the beginning at look at the page numbers, it seems they counted the cover as page 1. So technically, it IS 600 pages exactly. Whew!

I sent you a pm. The picture I tried to post was to large. Don't know how to shrink it.

I remember waiting for the BPS Master catalog to arrive for years. That was about 10 years ago before online like TW became a reliable source.

What killed BPS for me was the way the Cabelas take over went down.

Hmph! No 2023 BPS master catalog in the mail today. Guess I'll be perusing, again the 2022 in the toilet...again. At least I won't hear my wife griping I've been in there for 3 hours and not have done nothing of importance.

I got my BPS catalog today. For what little I buy from them now I'm surprised they keep sending me one.

Well, FINALLY! Received the 2023 BPS Master Catalog today! What a pleasant surprise to see that catalog waiting for me on the dining table this evening.

I was expecting so much new stuff, but meh. BPS does have a new glide bait that looks quite interesting. No new BPS rod or reels, except for a new crappie baitcast rod that looks promising. I kinda wished that BPS would join the BFS bandwagon and offer something from them. Or and update to the Carbon Lite 3.0 casting reel, or bring back the mean green Extreme rods and reels.

Now I can retire the 2022 master catalog and have a 2023 master catalog to keep me amused. I do like looking online for fishing stuff from TW and the likes, but there is something special and cool to still have a master catalog to look forward to turn the page(s) and see what is new and have a physical feel of paper. It's like bringing back my childhood and teenage years of getting the BPS Master Catalogs from days gone.

Please BPS, don't ever discontinue with the master catalog, it's like almost the last piece of the past that I can still enjoy...

AMEN!!! Nothing like an old school catalog! Other than shopping at mom and pop shops, I rarely look anywhere other than BPS (catalog and online).

The “technique-specific” black series of Carbonlite 2.0 rods seems interesting.

Odd that they have a matching set of reels—but there’s plenty of people who must have a matching color combo.

Noticed that they have started building the Johnny Morris Signature Series and Platinum Series rods here in the United States and seem to have discontinued the BPS Patriot line, also made in the USA of rods. I own several Patriot and Platinum rods and really like them.
