I found out about this guy some time ago, and it inspired me big time.   

 

Night time has always been my favorite time to target big fish.

It’s rather strange, considering that the 2-3 acre pond I fish the most is smack dab in the middle of a suburban residential neighborhood. But it is 75% surrounded by trees and 90% of anglers fish the open areas where it’s easier to cast. While I have seen anglers in a canoe and a fishing kayak, I’ve never had one on the water when I’ve been in my inflatable boat. If I’m in the N or NE side, I often have the water to myself. Thirty seconds to drive there, ten minutes tops to unload the boat and have it in the water and seconds later I’m making my first cast. Hard to believe, but it is my quiet place.

I'm able to be in my own little word most of the time walking the pond banks I frequent. My fondest memories though are from creek wading. I'm hoping to revisit that some this year since my knee surgery. Still have a bum right ankle, though so I'll probably never get to where I was several years ago. Even enjoyed the long walks back to my car after getting out of the water.

I got a lot of quiet places, smaller ponds in the woods! Seen so much wild life. Night fishing out there remote spots is awesome! I don’t fish big lakes with big boats. All cartop spots or shore spots. It’s awesome. I very rarely see other people I love it!  I have so many favorite spots!

I have a few quiet spots. For many years, I’ve spent a fair bit of time out on Georgian Bay. There’s quite a bit of boat traffic in the summers on the main channels and close to town, but once you get about 1/2 hour away from town, there’s literally hundreds of back bays and offshore shoals where you’ll never see another human all day, no matter what time of year it is. 
My newest quiet spot, also my new favourite, is the river that runs right through my property we bought two years ago. I have a section about 500yds long that goes directly through my land, no boats can access it other than a canoe or kayak from the lake it runs out of, and I doubt there was even a single one through here the last couple years other than me. I can walk across my field after work in the summer, and sit there on the shore or float the canoe and catch a bunch of smallmouth and largemouth on topwaters, some sort of Texas rig or with the fly rod. All you hear is the frogs and birds. It is truly heaven, right behind my house!

We have several small lakes and one smaller river nearby that a lot of folks don't visit for some reason. That's where I usually go as I don't want to fish around others and enjoy my peace and quiet.

 

Bussy Brake in LA is 15 miles from my house. It's small and used to be a great place to go until the mlf ruined it for everyone. Small lake that takes a pounding. Used to be few trucks and trailers in the parking lot, not anymore.

There are two large lakes that receive a lot of pressure nearby too. I usually pass on those also.

To my understanding, the state of LA closed, drained and made improvements to Bussy before I moved to south Arkansas. Once it reopened, people started going but nothing like it is now.

When I still fished for steelhead, I had a section of river that required a serious hike and climb.  It was pristine and the only sounds were water and birds.  As far as bass locations go there are few locations close. Sitting in the boat in the garage playing with gear is quiet and relaxing.?

Answer: No. I live about a 50 minute drive from downtown Los Angeles.

 

In light of the above, I look forward to occasionally going to visit my fellow fishing fiend friend in Texas. In comparison, we generally go fish whenever we want to, wherever we want to (without trespassing of course).

 

I absolutely  LOVE  to go night fishing in Texas. Go to the ramp at midnight? I am in!

I wish there was a quiet place around here. Unless it’s very cold and even then you’ll see a few others out. It’s darn near impossible. At night the flathead guys or bow fishermen are out. Unless you have something private you are going to get into people.  I am sure if we did an angler per acre comparison on any given day, we probably have some of the most  pressured water in the USA.  at least right on par with other big name bodies of water.

I have a lake about thirty miles away that's been my quiet get-a-way place for thirty years.  A bayou that the state game and fish damed up.  2 1/2 miles long and averages 100-150 yards wide until you reach the bay near the dam.

 

Steep forested slopes on the hill sides.  Maximum depth of about 35' on average. Lots of stick ups means everyone travels at idle speed.  No cell phone reception and only about 10 homes on the bank.

None of the lakes that I fish are quiet.  My quiet place is my workshop area in my garage.  That is where I go to make baits and tinker with my boat.

It’s hard to mention them all. I used to fish the Ocala forest waters for complete solitude. It was rare to see anyone all day at most of them. Now I stay closer to home and fish my home lake the most. I’ve fished on it for 48 years now, and lived on it for 15… It started out as a creek going into a cypress pond. In the 50s my friends family logged the cypress out of it and they enlarged it and started building houses on it.  It had almost nobody fishing it until covid except me, but  a lot of new people moved in that use it more. Still not heavily pressured. It is spring fed, so it stays pretty clear. It is shallow, only 7 foot max. depth now. There are 3 distinct sections of the lake . The north end is long and narrower, the middle is the Island area, with channels on either side, and the south end is wider and rounder…

We don’t allow outboards or jet skiis anymore, so it’s usually quiet. Many people have dogs though, so that often ruins the peace.  The wooded Island is a peaceful getaway though - The same 200+ year old live oak I climbed as a teen is still out there…

 Even if I don’t go out in the boat , I can relax at the dock, which is about 35 feet from my back door…

i used to have a few private places where i was the only one with permission to fish them.

i moved away for a decade, and now the land is owned by people i don't know, or the children of the people i did know. those kids don't know me,  so all of that is gone now.

Oklahoma has a lot of outdoorsy people, so any accessible bodies of water near the big cities are going to be frequented.  That means, I don't really get to have a quiet place on the water.  There are a few I've found that are around 1.5 hours drive or more, but they're not good fishing lakes. On the flip side, we have enough bodies of water that everyone knows about, that it's also never super crowded at the lakes (outside of holidays).  So you're never really alone, but you're also never fighting for a good spot.  There are a lot of private ponds and such, but dear God, you better know the owner and have their permission!  

 

Actually, there is one quiet, public spot that I know of.  It's the western side of the Oklahoma River just upstream from the waterpark.  And I don't know if it qualifies as a true "quiet place", as you'll hear nonstop cars and plastic bags rustling in the wind.  But the only other people you'll see down there will be the ones on your sonar.
