SproDD79 Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 Anyone have any info on what Shimano has up its sleeve this year? 2 Quote
redmeansdistortion Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 I'm wondering if they will finally release the Calcutta Conquest BFS here since the Curado BFS has seemingly been a success for them. It's about due for a refresh seeing as the larger models were refreshed for 2021 and the '17 model is getting hard to find. 1 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 19, 2023 Super User Posted January 19, 2023 I bought one last year: https://fish.shimano.com/en-SG/product/reels/baitcast/a075f00002k1pnhqai.html 1 Quote

Super User FishTank Posted January 19, 2023 Super User Posted January 19, 2023 The email I received, if you dig deap enough, said it was from Shimano "Electronics". New forward facing sonar? Saltwater reels with line counters? Updated DC system? Or something dumb, like a flashing crankbait. 2 Quote

I know they just came out with a 200 size. 1 Quote

I asked one of the employees at a local tackle store about a rise in Shimano pricing and although he didn't say it outright, his response led me to believe that he didn't disagree with that being the case. I'm not saying it is happening for sure, thus the question mark at the end of my post. Quote

GReb Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 A new Chronarch has to be in the works. The current model is 6 years old? 1 Quote
ska4fun Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 There is a new conquest BFS... With the same old long shaft spool, no free-floating one... Shimano really thinks very low of its consumers... Quote

I have the previous version and it has been fantastic. It might the best spinning reel I have ever used. I am excited as well for this release. Quote
ska4fun Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 I'm here to apologize for shimano. In complaining about the lack of short shaft, free floating spool, I anticipated the hyper-revolutionary technology behind the release of the CQ BFS 2029. Quote

You will be surprised if Shimano come up with free floating spool version sooner. I believe I saw KTF free floating spool for one of Shimano BFS. Shimano might add another reel to SLX line (SLX DC XT 70) to North America, since SLX seem to be big target group for Shimano. Quote

My 51 has ont of them, microcast spool, short shaft and mag brakes. Quote
