Anybody have one of these on their boat with the I-Pilot feature? Been looking at it lately, thinking about replacing the Minn Kota I have now with this and converting my boat to a 24 volt system.

Those of you that have one what do you think of them?

I have one on my aluminum boat, I like it. But if you are used to a typical foot control motor it will take some getting used to. I really like the anchor feature, the tracking feature I have not used as much as I should. I hardly ever use the foot pedal I usually run it off of the remote most of the time. The only problems I have had with it is, it went nuts once and would not stop turning right , it broke the locking collar, It took minn kota a week to ship me a knew one, and the transducer went out in it already and I had to send it back to get it replaced. I would not replace it on my aluminum boat for anything, but saying that I would never put it on my bass boat. Too many things that can go wrong with it.

I had a 24V, 60", AP, US2, 80lb thrust, & Co-Pilot on my last boat a 2004 Tracker Targa 17SC Deep V I loved it BUT..... I only used the rod mounted Co-Pilot remote as I only use spinning gear so it was an easy choice being able to run the Terrova from anywhere on the boat.

I had the dealer install the 36V, 54", AP, US2, 101lb thrust & Co-Pilot version on my new 2011 Nitro Z-7 can't wait for ice off to try her out.

The foot pedal is different from the other non PowerDrive motors it's wider I know it won't fit the pedal recess in the front deck of my Z-7. It does require a little more effort to stow & deploy.

The only problem I had was the board for the Auto Pilot had to be replaced under warranty. I don't have the iPilot just the standard AP.

I replaced my motorguide with a Terrova with the 101 pound thrust on my boat. I did not get the i-pilot feature on it, but having the autopilot feature makes things great! Just point the head in the direction you want to go and it will take you there.

I find myself using it when departing the boat launch and going thru the no wake zone to the lake. It buys me time to tie lures and prep rods during that time to get to the open waters.

Another great feature with the autopilot is when you want to stay parallel to the shore. Once again just point the head in the direction you want to travel and set the speed. It will keep you on track regardless of wind and waves and you can spend more time casting rather than constantly keeping your foot on the pedal trying to compensate for that.

When purchasing that unit, I knew the I-pilot feature could be added at a later time. I have not seen the need for it since buying it. I love the Terrova and it is a great product. Any future purchase of a trolling motor will most definately have the autopilot feature. My advice is to get the model one step bigger than you anticipated. You won't regret getting a more powerful unit, but probably would if you bought one smaller.

I hope this helps. Best of luck to you.

I have a 24v Terrova with the i-Pilot.  As I've said a number of times on this board, it's the wave of the future.  Cable-steering is on it's way out, much like the Buggy Whip.
