As many of you know, J.J.'s Magic can be a pain in the butt. Not just when using it but also storing it somewhere where it won't tip over, etc. I used to just use an old Curado box to keep mine in, and then keep that in one of my boat lockers.

But today I was in Wal-Mart and came across this little plastic container. It's approx. 3.5" x 5.5" (smaller than my Curado box). It was only $3.50 so I figured I'd grab one and see if the jars would fit. Well, they fit perfectly. When you put the box lid on and latch it it's very snug. No way the jars can tip over. I'm thinking you could fit 5 jars in there.

Anyways, figured I'd pass this along in case anybody would be interested.

I’m still traumatized from when I tipped a jar of Spike It on myself while in the kayak during the summer. I think the fish could smell me all the way from underwater because I didn’t catch anything the rest of the day. A group of girls on a boat drove by at some point and I paddled my yellow garlic stinking butt away a little faster than normal

On the bright side...I bet you didn't have any vampires messing with you the rest of the night.

Nice ~

Perhaps consider adding at least an inch or so of some type of 'foam' in the bottom.

Cut a couple of 'jar sized' hole in it.

May help with cargo stability.

Can you smell what I'm cookin' ?

With my Curado box, I had foam in the bottom. With this box I don't think it'll be necessary with how tight they fit. If I tip it on it's side they don't slide.

I have bad luck with JJ's evaporating in the jar - even stored upright with the lid on tight ... I'm not sure what the answer is but I only buy JJ's sparingly now .

I need this, current container is huge but waterproof.

This tray has worked for me for at least 15 or 20 years. I do keep the boat inside and that helps with the JJ's not exposing it to different temperatures.

It’s so stinking annoying when the half full bottle you left is empty next time you pick it up…isn’t it?

Hmm, I haven't experienced this. Are you keeping it in direct sunlight at all?

I suspect there is some evaporation. The chartreuse bottle in my tray is almost 3 years old but half empty.  I do use it frequently.

The red bottle is about one year old and also half empty. I do not use it nearly as much as the chartreuse. Why half empty?

Maybe I should start marking the bottles with a sharpie to keep track.

BTW I have a bottle of "Spike It" at my house up the mountains. It is over 5 years old but it is at least half full and it also gets used frequently. I think it is a similar formulation to JJ's. It is kept in my basement up there and it seldom gets warm even in summer.

This is good. Spilling is always a bad experience. I prefer the spike-it pens, but understand why someone would want to dip in the jar.

Yes - exactly !! JJ's Lid tight , stored upright inside out of the sun ... I blame the bottle / cap combo in this case as I believe the cap needs a gasket of some sort . *Even if I have to open the bottle slowly to prevent a JJ's grenade I'd rather do that than see the bottle essentially evaporate .

mine is in a heavy duty ziplock baggie.  cheap, works.  I will get a new baggie this season.  I know from experience the pink will fade from a bone colored kayak in about 4 months.  I think the sunlight bleaches it out.  I had an "incident" the first time I used it.
