snake95 Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Often hear anglers lamenting the demise of a popular lure, or celebrating the resurrection of one lost for dead. A few years ago, various lures from Rapalas scatter rap series were being sold off all over the place. It seemed the product line had met it's demise. These had mixed reviews, so I wasn't shocked. But, they worked for me. I just realized TW carries many of the original Scatter Raps again (still?) and most importantly, they are shown as current lures on the Rapala website. I'm interested in hearing how guys feel about the much-derided scatter raps, and the surprising fact they live on. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted January 14, 2023 Global Moderator Posted January 14, 2023 My buddy catches the mess out of them trolling that lure 2 Quote
ghost Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 I've had my best luck fishing the Scatter Rap Crank Shallow. I wish Rapala would bring that model back. I still have my original ones I bought years ago, but sure would like to get back ups in certain colors. 1 Quote
Nelson Delaney Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 I catch a ton of trout trolling with a few different types. I feel like the added movement triggers strikes Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted January 15, 2023 Super User Posted January 15, 2023 I did ok with them and still carry them in the boat. Also did surprisingly well on the river with the scatter crank. Always liked seeing some hate on the scatter raps but like the Megabass S crank;) 1 Quote
papajoe222 Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 I use them when I need to force myself to slow down. For me, that's when they produce best. Never tried trolling one because I rarely troll. 1 Quote
Super User Bankc Posted January 16, 2023 Super User Posted January 16, 2023 They've done okay for me in the past. But it always seemed to me like the DT series was just a bit better. They're not as bad as their reputation. But they they're hard to tie on when you know you have something better right next to it in the box. Quote
