FordsnFishin Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Did they quit making these baits? End of tournament season I visited 5 different locations trying to find some. Quote

Global Moderator Mike L Posted January 14, 2023 Global Moderator Posted January 14, 2023 I got ‘em all over around here. If you like I’ll pick up a few bags and send them to you. Mike 2 Quote

Mike I appreciate that Mike! I'll probably end up making an online order, I have some other things I need to stock up on as well. Just seemed odd nobody locally was stocking them anymore. Glad to hear they're still out there. A favorite flipping bait of mine, and just happened to run out before my last few tournaments of the year. 1 Quote
ironbjorn Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 It feels like I'm finding a lot of baits only online anymore Quote
Solution Kyle S Posted January 14, 2023 Solution Posted January 14, 2023 If you're referring to the older HAVOC line of pit boss's, i haven't seen those in store for quite some time. The Powerbait Pittboss's can be found just about anywhere near me though. 2 minutes ago, Kyle S said: f you're referring to the older HAVOC line of pit boss's, i haven't seen those in store for quite some time. Now my local Walmart doesn't carry them. 1 Quote
FordsnFishin Posted January 14, 2023 Author Posted January 14, 2023 @Kyle S yeah , the havoc pit boss is what I was speaking of. I checked several Wal marts as well. I didn't even realize they made the powerbait version. Appears they made slight changes and doubled the price. Quote
Super User NorthernBasser Posted January 14, 2023 Super User Posted January 14, 2023 The day Berkley stops making the Pit Boss is the day I stop fishing. 2 Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted January 14, 2023 Super User Posted January 14, 2023 Never owned one. What color and which size do you recommend? Quote

Light (white/chartreuse, sexy shad, etc) - Skeet's Chartreuse Shad (my best producer) Naturals (greens, browns, tans, etc) - Green Haze or Perfection Blue Flake Dark (black, black/blue, etc) - Junebug 3/8 or 1/2 swim jigs, spinners and chatters I use a 4" Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 14, 2023 Super User Posted January 14, 2023 I can pretty much find them anywhere online. Locally, maybe Cabela's. Most stores (DSG, Walmart) around me seem to be moving away from fishing gear. My favorite color is black and blue flake. I use them as jig trailers and on occasion as a flipping bait. 1 Quote

I almost exclusively use the 4". The 3" is a nice finesse jig trailer. I don't use the 4" for trailers. I flip/pitch with them. Also a good punch bait. There have been so many times where I'll be throwing a Rage Bug or a Brush Hog etc, and won't be doing too well. And I'll switch to a Pit Boss and just like that bites will pick up. It doesn't have a crazy action with a Rage Craw or something of the like, but it has more action than a beaver-style bait. By far my favorite color is Perfection Blue Fleck. Followed by Big Texan. TW carries Perfection but not Perfection Blue Fleck. 5 Quote

Mbirdsley Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 I think they discontinued the havoc line of baits pre-Covid. The pit boss is one lure I never had success on. The havoc craw fatty I did like. Berkley brought that into the regular power bait line after they discontinued the havoc line. Quote

Been fishing the Big Texan color in the 5.2" beaver for almost 20yrs....it's the shizz. 1 Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted January 15, 2023 Super User Posted January 15, 2023 I need to streamline my creature baits like I did my worms. Get it down to two. I’m all over the place. Maybe three. The new PittBoss. I should try it. I do punch with the Palmetto Bug because it is so tough. 1 Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted January 15, 2023 Super User Posted January 15, 2023 Well, I am a HUGE fan of the Rage Tail Rage Bug, but I just ordered several colors of the 4" Pit Boss. We'll see how they compare "head to head". 5 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 18, 2023 Global Moderator Posted January 18, 2023 They killed off my 2 favorite colors when they cut the Havoc lineup. There was so many great plastics in that line of baits that they didn't remake in the Powerbait lineup, such a shame. Quote
