What else do you have? Just curious. I am pretty much settled, don’t think I will buy anything new but nice to hear what somebody else has

I also have Nautica Voyage ,which is very affordable, Tom Ford Ombré Leather and Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privée. I have some others that are dirt cheap as well, not worth mentioning. It’s become a little side hobby of mine, but a very materialistic and pointless one at that. Oh well, I enjoy collecting them! If you’re ever on the lookout for affordable but quality fragrances, let me know! I can steer you in the right direction.

Hey y’all,

Who here likes to wear cologne and what do you like? When I consider some of the demographic of bassresource, we have a lot of married folks older than I, and a good amount retired folks. Myself, I am single and young. So I don’t know how much response this thread will get but I had to ask.

One of my roommates here is pretty heavily interested into fragrances so after several months of me not really caring about fragrances, eventually a group of us were wandering around in Nashville and my roommate wanted to get me into cologne so asked me to try one from a Sephora. Well I got a sampler pack and found that I really liked wearing them so I just started to. Just like to smell nice. Im very clean and always have been but cologne kinda adds a little sumthin sumthin.

Anyways, I own several now and my favorite is probably Prada Luna Rossa Ocean.

What about you?

you’ve hit on one of my other interest areas. You don’t want to know how many bottles I have upstairs and I couldn’t actually tell you without going and counting (if I had to guess, I probably have 50 unique bottles). I have more than I can wear the rest of my life if I wore two different ones a day for the next 40 years. In my own defense, I didn’t buy most. A good few were gifts, a couple were my own purchases or trades, and a lot were because I worked in the industry. For a good number of years I worked closely with fragrance perfumers for my day job. I’ve spent time at one of the perfume houses school of perfumery. At one point I had a perfume ingredients reference seton my desk and then at home. Every year we would get a couple bottles of the perfume liquid in an unbranded spray bottle.  I’d also have various perfumes as reference samples when we were developing new fragrances and wanted to call out various aspects of an already developed thing.

in terms of what I wear? Most all of it. It depends on the mood I’m in. I have light and easy stuff, I have classical old school mens, I have rich and sweet stuff, fruity and fun, dry and powdery, you name it. The best way to try is to go to Sephora or a high end department store and try one on each wrist for a day. See how it smells at first, after five minutes, and after 2 hours.

That’s really cool! And I was embarrassed to admit I own about a dozen bottles! How were you involved with the industry? If you don’t mind disclosing what your job was.

I work in the consumer products industry and I was in charge of managing flavors and fragrances for a large part of our portfolio. The fragrance houses that make the majority of perfumes also make the fragrances that are in your laundry detergent, air fresheners, hand soaps and creams, and anywhere else that has a scent added.

I did not know that, that’s really interesting. Thanks for sharing!

Here is Eddie Murphy's take on it. It's Eddie Murphy, so don't open it if you are offended by that sort of thing... (it's a YT video).

I've had major sinus issues for years, many colognes, perfumes, & after shaves instantly lock my sinuses.

I don't wear cologne but I do use Stetson after shave but a very small amount.

There were times I’d get in an elevator, hit the 12 button, it would stop on the second floor and some matronly 75 year-old would step in smelling like she fell head-first into a vat of Jean Nate. I’d walk out. If I stayed, I’d have a splitting headache by Floor #5.

Hoppe’s 9 or lighter fluid under the collar will usually suffice. If I’m feeling daring, I might just draw a smiley face on my hand with a scented marker.

I happened to have my phone earlier when I went upstairs and thought of this thread when I saw my bottles. I figured I might as well share. It’s 37 bottles on the counter, another 14 in the drawer that are mine, plus tons of 1/2 oz sampler bottles (probably a hundred or so).

Holy moly!

You’ve been afflicted by the fragrance monkey!

That collection is awesome, thanks for sharing. I don’t really recognize much besides the Tom Ford’s on your right.

Since you shared, figured I would post up mine too. I don’t know what I did with the Prada Black box. Wish I still had it

I have a bit of everything there. Some mass market, some boutique. Some

expensive, some cheap as chips. Mostly I have these ones because I like how they smell.

The man himself tells me, “You have to use finesse tactics”. @TnRiver46 is married now to a beautiful wife. @TnRiver46 has got rizz!

I love the smell of new tires in a tire shop.  The other two are awesome too.  Spent shotgun shells are a great memory smell.

all that aside, i don't wear cologne.  i can't explain where  or when i made this decision, but as long as i can remember, i just think men shouldn't adorn themselves.  i don't wear jewelry, or scents, and only wear dress clothes if i have to.  i don't have any rational explanation why i think that way,  and i don't know where it came from. i guess i'm just weird.  i dated a girl who liked scents, many decades ago. when she and i would go out, she'd bring along a bottle of lagerfeld photo, and make me wear it.  i hated it, and i would shower it off as soon as we were done...you know.

I was never really a cologne guy, but for the past year I’ve been using oil in my beard. The scent wears off very quickly with most oils but for one of the beard companies I use the scent can last all day.
