They are on my list for my next JDM order but I would not pay $25 for one (crazy). So far my favorites have been from Megabass (all versions) and the also the OSP High Pitcher.

Wait a minute. It was you who wanted me to try the SV-3s, not @NorthernBasser

I mixed y’all up for some reason

I just remember telling you that if you mess around with the blades the Fishing Gods will curse you.

I remember this conversation when Lucky Craft lures hit the market, who would pay $15 for a jerk or lipless bait? It turns out nearly everyone will pay for lures that catch bass consistently.

Sammy put all my spooks in retirement. A game changer for me.

Yeah, young guy, but lures are supposed to impress fish, not fishermen... :)

I don’t care about the way a bait looks at all or the price as long as I have enough money from working to keep buying them. All that matters to me is that I’ve got the best possible version of a bait in my hand that I can.

MOYO I just checked your profile. Nice to have another young fella on here; I hope you stick around.

Nice fish that you mentioned above!

I’ve been reading forums here for a good while. Just never decided to contribute until now.

I can’t speak for other lures, but everything in a spinnerbait is easily analyzed. You look at blade size, blade thickness, blade shape, blade spacing, the components on the wire arm, the quality of the swivel, the frame size, the wire thickness, the wire flexibility, the head shape, the hook size, the skirt, etc. (I’m sure I’m forgetting some)… and you get a general idea in your head of how that spinnerbait is going to run and what it’s going to look like, and, most importantly, you can compare it to other spinnerbaits that you’ve used in the past to get a baseline to compare to.

This is my logic too, a brief glance gives a lot of info if you can visualize what the components will do. With that being said the water, and ultimately fish are always the proving grounds. There are plenty of baits with a “stupid looking action” that get bit like no other even against what would seem like “better judgement” from the eyes of an angler.

I remember going to the BPS in Louisville (it was awesome 20 years ago) and they had a whole row of them at $15 a piece. At that time, it was equal to the amount BPS lures they had.  I thought they were crazy expensive then but they ended up being my introduction to JDM lures.

Had this conversation with a guy in my club years ago. He said I was crazy for buying a $15 lure even though he would go through $20 worth of Senkos a day. Drew him 5 years later and schooled him on the same $15 LC Jerkbait I was using 5 years prior.
