So I know that certain spinnerbaits often get cult followings so sometimes people are a bit jaded, but I'd be interested to hear if anyone has fished the deps B custom spinnerbaits. I have one and they seem to be the highest quality spinnerbait hardware wise that I've ever used, and to top that off they also seem to have some of the best movement and vibration that I've experienced. What are you guys' thoughts and experiences with it?

$25 Spinnerbait? Never seen one in the wild, may never. I'm sure it's great, I do fish Deps SB's.

$25 that’s an awful lot for a spinnerbait. Hard to justify that price.

On the topic of JDM spinnerbaits, the SV-3 spinnerbaits I received are priced at $13 and similar to what you say, are the highest quality spinnerbaits component-wise that I’ve seen. Beats even Nichols. $13 is still really pricey and still hard to justify when there are $9 spinnerbaits that perform phenomenally but at least with the Megabass, I felt that a buyer was being compensated quite a bit.

Let us know how those Deps spinnerbaits catch for you but I probably won’t ever buy one. That price is too steep for me

They certainly are expensive and I’m sure if I break a few off I won’t be buying many more soon but I do think that there certainly is a downward curve on the return on investment for a bait of this price but they do seem better even with that curve being the case. I guess I’ll have to report back with what I figure out since to no surprise not many people have them.

What's admirable about the jackal super eruption spinnerbaits? From what I've looked at just from a brief scan it seems like their wire is the big selling point.

They are magic baits according to some people.

No doubt they will work and catch a ton of fish just like other spinnerbaits .

I’m fixing to toss a spinner this weekend. Can’t wait. For two days in a row there will be 15mph winds but I will be from bank so not too bad. Winds will be nice for some power fishing, I hope. I expect the water to be really cold though

Think Im Going to mix it up and toss a double Indiana. Haven’t really ever used them in the winter

Already caught a 6.26 this spring on a spinnerbait and have gotten a fish over 6 on one for the past 3 years unless I’m miscounting. Thought I would treat myself to a proper spinnerbait.

MOYO I just checked your profile. Nice to have another young fella on here; I hope you stick around.

Nice fish that you mentioned above!

Also, to contribute to the threads discussion of spinnerbaits with great components:

Another spinnerbait with decent value and good components is the Trophy Bass Co Ozark Flash spinnerbaits. My only gripe might be with the skirt. Just a rubber band cheapie. Everything else in the spinnerbait is built really nice. Unique blades, unique head shape, nice screw lock keeper and hook, excellent blade spacing

Prices seem to vary on this spinnerbait

Edit: dangit one more too. E-factor spinnerbaits. Google them. Illinois deal. I saw them in a shop and gave them a looking over and was really impressed

Yeah, young guy, but lures are supposed to impress fish, not fishermen... :)

you’re telling me that you can’t just look at a spinnerbait and go… “yeah, that’ll work good”?

At this point, yes, a few decades ago, no.

I can’t speak for other lures, but everything in a spinnerbait is easily analyzed. You look at blade size, blade thickness, blade shape, blade spacing, the components on the wire arm, the quality of the swivel, the frame size, the wire thickness, the wire flexibility, the head shape, the hook size, the skirt, etc. (I’m sure I’m forgetting some)… and you get a general idea in your head of how that spinnerbait is going to run and what it’s going to look like, and, most importantly, you can compare it to other spinnerbaits that you’ve used in the past to get a baseline to compare to.

Yes, but knowing all that won't tell you if that is what fish will want in a particular place at a particular time, for that you need to just do it a lot. I have spinnerbaits (and spinners, and other things) that crush in one or a few places, and get mostly ignored in others, figuring all that out is the real puzzle. Getting to know a particular bait, and getting to know a particular body of water are two different things that need to  work in tandem (pun intended)...

It’s been pretty seldom that I’ve fished a body of water long enough to call it a home body of water. I got pretty familiar with some bodies of water in NY, but I only fished them over a season and a half or so. Only one reservoir, about two seasons or over.

So, I don’t have seasons upon seasons of experience on anything, and I don’t expect to for a while. But, I can take my analysis of a spinnerbait and think “this is a well built spinnerbait and I’ve had success on either it or ones like it in the past”. Then I can throw that thing with confidence because I know what it is doing. Plus I have a little idea of what I like to throw in different seasons now. What I can figure out is “At some time, and some place, that spinnerbait is going to work.” And since I move around, eventually that spinnerbait is bound to be good for me

They are on my list for my next JDM order but I would not pay $25 for one (crazy). So far my favorites have been from Megabass (all versions) and also the OSP High Pitcher.
