Super User Deleted account Posted January 12, 2023 Super User Posted January 12, 2023 No one. Sure, certain anglers are associated with certain lures, but a lot of that is perception, circumstance, or marketing. 1 1 Quote
Woody B Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 I see their names on lures but that's about as far as it goes. I know Guy Eaker, Bass fishing hall of fame member. Years ago I was servicing one of his vehicles and asked him about an upcoming fishing trip I was going on. He reached in his vehicle and handed me a couple black spinnerbaits. I don't know if spinnerbaits were his main lure of if that's just what he thought would work on my next trip. (they did) 4 Quote

Super User T-Billy Posted January 12, 2023 Super User Posted January 12, 2023 I've been buying jerkbaits lately. I've decided I need to to dedicate some real time to them in the spring, because when I grow up, I wanna be like @A-Jay and @Dwight Hottle. Both legit brown bass hammers. I can catch smalljaws pretty good, but I've got some holes in my game, with the JB being the most glaring. I need to remedy that situation. I spend a LOT of time with a flippin stick in my hand. Hackney and Tharp are the guys that come to mind when I'm fishin the jungle. 3 Quote

KSanford33 Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 The only one I would add to these is: Buzzbait - Rick Clunn However, the only angler that is a knee jerk reaction to a certain technique is Denny Brauer with flipping. Quote

Super User Bankc Posted January 12, 2023 Super User Posted January 12, 2023 Roland Martin, Jimmy Houston, and Bill Dance: My grandparents living room in the late 1980's and early 1990's. I'm don't really associate techniques or lures with famous people, because it wasn't those famous people who introduced me to those techniques. Most of the lures or techniques I know, I either associate with family and friends, or an endless stream of random guys at the dock that probably told me their names, but I've since long forgotten.
