krisjack69 Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Has anyone here have this rod? I used it first time today and it didn't cast that far with 15 lbs big game. I wonder if I got fluorocarbon in say 12 to 15 would it cast better on my Revo Premier gen 2 reel? Was casting an Arkie jig and Texas rig. I thought it would have casted further than that. Quote

Have not used that rod, but going to 12-14 lb test in a higher quality line such as tatsu flourocarbon should yield better casting and line management than the big game. Another option would be to run braid to a flouro leader which should work fine on this rods guide train with either an FG or Alberto knot. The line will be a step up in price. Don't know what size jig you are throwing but if it is closer to the max 1 ounce rod rating then 14 lb flouro would be better. If you primarily throw lighter jigs without cover/snags, 12 will be fine. My first choice would be braid/flouro leader- unless u fish in rocky/boulder terrain. Quote
krisjack69 Posted January 11, 2023 Author Posted January 11, 2023 Ok, great thanks! 12 should be fine then. The pond I use has mainly grass and cattails. Quote
