Rodney Smith Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 Anybody have an feedback on this rod? Quote
mrpao Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 I have one I use for light drop shot and 1/8 oz jighead with small plastics. Fairly light and sensitive rod. I have it paired up with a Luvius airity 2500s and 6lbs fluro. It's a nice balanced combo. I haven't tried it with small hard baits but it has a deeper bend so I'm sure it would be great for small crankbaits like shad raps. If you can get use to the handle then you'll probably like the rod. 1 Quote

Yes absolutely will throw shad style lures beautifully. If you don’t need the extra length, it’s awesome at ultra light hair jigs (mainly a smallmouth technique). I was using it as my bfs sized jerkbait rod, but I’ve since switched over to a BFS rod / reel. Also, if I’m ever using an 1/8 oz free rig set up I’ll use this rod. Can you tell I’m a fan? Sooo light and crisp. Quote
Rodney Smith Posted January 11, 2023 Author Posted January 11, 2023 What would you say is the upper limit this rod will comfortably throw? It would be my do it all light finesse rod. Drop shot, Okishira/spark shads, tiny underspins, neds, etc? I would also use it to throw micro cranks and smaller jerkbaits up to to Vision 110 Jr. Is this the rod for those techniques? Quote

You should seriously check out the Whippet, unless you want the extra length from the Baby Plugging. I use it for those techniques you listed, and would prefer the added length of the baby plugging for throwing those super finesse swim baits but for the rest I think the Whippet excels. Especially love it for the Nanahan and 110 JR, as well as light drop shot. 1 Quote
Rodney Smith Posted January 18, 2023 Author Posted January 18, 2023 I’m afraid the Whippet would be too short for getting good distance out of the little swimbaits and Okishira heads. I’m still leaning towards trying a Baby Plugging… Quote
FK-506 Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 @Rodney Smith, did you get the Baby Plugging? How do you like it? I was thinking of getting that rod or the 2023 Flyssa when it comes out next month (supposedly). Flyssa is supposedly made for hair jig, Okashira, and other light swimbaits. I hope it could also do some light dropshotting or Ned rig in a pinch. Quote
Rodney Smith Posted February 14, 2023 Author Posted February 14, 2023 I didn’t get it. I’m still interested in one though. Quote

Considering bought a rod for both bass and crappie fishing, was wondering if baby plugging is good for crappie fishing especially using 1/16oz jig. What do you think? Thanks. Quote
