Super User Bankc Posted January 8, 2023 Super User Posted January 8, 2023 It looks like Lund is creating a new brand called Veer as an entry level boat. They're releasing an X13, which can come with either a small gas or electric outboard. What's interesting to me, is it has a polyethylene hull. http://www.veerboats.com Starting price is $12k. What do you guys think? To me, I'd rather have an aluminum Jon boat for that kind of money. 1 Quote

When you can get a new Alumacraft V-14 with a 20hp and a Helix 7 and trailer for under 11k....ya, I think Lund isn't gonna get much sales with this. 1 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted January 8, 2023 Super User Posted January 8, 2023 I'm in this market right now, I couldn't click the link fast enough......hard pass. Agree, a Jon boat would be much better for me than a 12k 13' boat. 1 Quote
volzfan59 Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 I agree with @MN Fisher and @AlabamaSpothunter hard pass from me too. 1 Quote
Woody B Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 People will probably line up to buy them. I don't get it. It's $12K with a 9.9 gas engine. I wonder how much the electric is? Quote
Super User WRB Posted January 8, 2023 Super User Posted January 8, 2023 Looks like Lund is entering the Skiff market, not a true bass fishing or until it’s boat. Tom 1 Quote
Super User GreenPig Posted January 8, 2023 Super User Posted January 8, 2023 Built for the person that can't decide between a kayak and a boat. 3 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 8, 2023 Super User Posted January 8, 2023 Hog island skiffs are also plastic boats that are used for river use but you can put a 60hp jet on theirs. This boat is really cool though but I am not paying that much for one with only a 9.9hp I'll bet they would have been allowed in kayak tournaments if they were marketed with a Torqeedo Quote
haggard Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 I love Lund but there's a lot of marketing at work here. I'll stick with their all metal 10 ft jon (87 lb) and 6 hp Merc gasser, total price (new) $2,800 (in pre-insane prices). Throw it all in the truck bed and no need for a trailer. Quote

Tom Actually, the Mercury 7.5e is only about 1HP. But due to the increased torque of it being an electric motor, it's supposed to run like a 3.5HP two cycle gas motor. The 7.5 comes from it having a 750-watt motor. https://www.mercurymarine.com/en/us/engines/outboard/avator/mercury-avator-75e/ The batteries are supposed to be light and easily replaceable, which is good. Because they claim you'll get about 45 minutes of run time at full speed. Which being a main motor, instead of a trolling motor, is probably how you'll be using it most often. https://electrek.co/2023/01/06/mercury-avator-7-5e-electric-outboard-boat-motor/ 1 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 9, 2023 Super User Posted January 9, 2023 Aside from the sticker shock, I kind of dig it. It's a cool little boat. 1 Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted January 9, 2023 Super User Posted January 9, 2023 keep in mind i dont know jack squat about boats. but call me crazy. i think i like it. i know a guy with a Hobie Proangler with that same price tag with accessories. with a spot lock trolling motor, it would be awesome. give it time and some New Zealander will put a 50 hp motor and it and start a race series. 1 Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted January 9, 2023 Super User Posted January 9, 2023 I side with @J Francho on this. Actually seems like a pretty cool little boat. I don't think it's 12K cool, but still. I'm thinking they'll sell ok, heck Craigcat has stayed in business and even though they have a bigger motor and are fun to drive, that's about all you can do with them and those are 14k. Maybe it's just a little nostalgia kicking in since I got my start with a little 2 man Bass Hound 10.2, but this seems like a grown up version of something like that. Quote
@reelChris Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Probably the best and most expensive version of a sun dolphin pro 120 ever. 1 1 Quote

Super User Darth-Baiter Posted January 10, 2023 Super User Posted January 10, 2023 I bet I could spend $12k mimicking any discussion on that Tiny Boat Nation Forum. this is turnkey. for the record, my wife said, "NO". justkiddingididntask. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted January 12, 2023 Super User Posted January 12, 2023 Can't say anything bad about Lund. As far as their new budget line, more power to them. I don't think it's worth what they are asking but what do I know? I'd go for a Fury before I'd get the new line. The hull on the Fury would last the average fisherman a lifetime. Quote

I've got 14K in a 14" Jon. BUT that includes an aluminum floor & casting deck, 80 lb Terrova, 15" Solix, 360 Imaging, and 25 hp Mercury. Quote

That's taking tiny boat to a new level! I've gotta see pics because it sounds like a feat of engineering to get all that stuff to fit! I know it was just a typo but given the conversation I had to give you crap about it. At 14K what you've got offers more value than the Veer, definitely more equipped and rigged for fishing. If you put the same stuff on the Veer, that'd add another $7k to the price tag and you still would only have a 9.9 since that's all it's rated for. 1 Quote
