I was able to get my hands on a Gen 5 Revo SX in the store today and they impressed me more than other recent generations.

1.  Box is now white and stands out on store shelves (why I saw it so quickly).  This has nothing to do with anything outside of trying to stand out to anglers looking on the shelf.  Little details count and I think this was a good one.
2.  The feel is actually pretty incredible.  If I were to close my eyes and turn the handle, I would be hard pressed to not think I was using a $200+ Shimano or Daiwa.  Little/no backplay in handle, clicking drag, etc.  Matte dark gray finish is classy.
3.  Drag is strong and handle knobs are great.  Larger than ever knobs give great grip and are very comfortable.  Lots of power and torque.
4.  The palmability (for my hands at least) is wonderful.  I put it on a rod and it disappears in my hands.
5.  Some may say (like Daiwa) that many models look the same.  That is commonplace with many brands going back 15+ years.  It's not just Abu.  It can be monotonous but I don't think its going anywhere as it is easier to add different parts to the same frame rather than re-tool an entire reel.

I have to say that I am actually impressed with the new Revo line.  I have not felt that since the Gen 1 or 2 reels.  I hope this helps!  Best wishes on the water!

Good luck with it. Mine are a couple generations back. I fish two REVO Winches and am very satisfied with them. I’m pretty much a Shimano Fan Boy that strayed and I glad I did. I believe a new Winch version is coming. I just can’t find a lot of Abu stuff locally.
