jeh Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 Bought an older bass boat. Can't find info on the trolling motor. It's a evinrude mod. BFL4S. Serial nu. H02896976. It's on a 1985 charger boat. Any ideas on the trolling motor would be helpful. Thanks Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted January 7, 2023 Super User Posted January 7, 2023 Little Googling and I have this. Make: Evinrude Model: BFL4S Year: 1994-1997 Length: 42" Volts: 24 Thrust: 41# If you need parts - these guys have quite a few of them https://www.vansoutboardparts.com/evinrude-johnson-omc-outboard-motor-parts/electric/1996/24/bfl4s-1996/c1-225303?trail=224279,224280,225144,225242 Quote
jeh Posted January 7, 2023 Author Posted January 7, 2023 I picked up this 1986 charger for a grand. Has a Suzuki 150 it's 18.5 footer. Think I did ok. Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted January 7, 2023 Super User Posted January 7, 2023 That's well below JD Powers base price for that boat/motor combo. Did you go through everything before taking it off his hands? Motor Starts, runs good at all throttle levels, shifts gears? No leaks in the hull, compartments are water-tight? Clean title? 1 Quote
jeh Posted January 9, 2023 Author Posted January 9, 2023 Lakes were freezing up when I got it. Seems to start up and run ok. Tried to post a picture of it but won't let me. Quote
Super User GaryH Posted January 9, 2023 Super User Posted January 9, 2023 Like @MN Fisher said if that motor runs and the boat is sound you got yourself a good deal. Congrats and good luck on your new boat Quote
Super User WRB Posted January 9, 2023 Super User Posted January 9, 2023 Don’t waste money on the Evinrude TM. Not sure if that model year bass boat has a glassed over wood transom and stringers? Check for dry rot! Tom Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted January 9, 2023 Super User Posted January 9, 2023 Congrats on the new to you boat! As long as everything is solid, you got yourself a deal. I'd be saving up for a new TM though as technology has advanced a lot over the years and they've got a lot more power now. It'll help a lot if you fish in any wind, grass, or especially if there's a combination of the two. Quote
