I fished them a lot many years ago, and still use them sometimes now. I like a med/hvy casting rod and 12lb line. The Rogue is a classic.

I still throw the Rougues, 10-12 lb mono on medium BC rod with short handle, just like most other (not extremely small or ridiculously large) JBs.

I'm a regular user of the Smithwick Rogue especially the DD style. I like using them on spinning tackle with 10lb braid & a 12lb mono leader. The standard Eagle claw hooks are good but I do replace them with owner Zo Wire hooks when they start to dull. Some of the newer versions come with gamakatsu hooks. I like to work them with a short pull to get them started then short taps or jerks with plenty of pauses in between. Some times I add in rod sweeps after the pause. I just caught my PB smallie on the DD model this last May. The deep diver will get down to 15-18 fow on 10lb braid with a long cast. The regular model will run 6-8 fow.

I caught so many fish on the clown colored Rogue and the more recent avocado colored rogue, not sure why I don't throw them anymore.

Not me, I might have a half dozen MB jerkbaits and I found a couple of them and was given a couple. Most of my 2 boxes of jerkbaits are made up of 6th Sense, Strike King, Duo, and Berkley.

My best day ever on Spots and perhaps fishing in general was on the biggest suspending Rattling Rouge models.

They just work, they are ugly but they work.    The Visions catch both me and the Bass ?

I still have several Rouges in my jerkbait box along with MB, Yo Zuri, Strike King, etc. Like others, I rarely throw them anymore. I use spinning tackle with all of the jerkbaits that I own. Medium action 7' rod, 3000 size reel spooled with 10 lb mono.

My favorite jerk bait. Been throwing one for many years and it stills continue to catch them. As far as equipment, I thrown it on a Falcon 6 1/2 ft rod with a Daiwa Tatula 100 reel loaded with 12# Sunline mono.

I have a clown Rogue that has lost much of its paint to toothy fish. It's one of those lures that catch fish.

And now that you mention it I do not know why I don't throw it more except for the fact I have many newer jerk baits I fish with. I guess it's time to put it in my box.

Whatever you throw your standard 110 sized jerkbaits on will probably work fine. Rogues are a little tougher to throw since they don’t have the modern day bearing transfer system, so lighter 8-10 lb casting or spinning gear should do the trick. They still work, and have had days where they out fished my MBs.

I'd normally think of that color as a tanic water/dirty color combo.  Is that what you're fishing it in or are you throwing that in clear water?

I always have a rod rigged with a floating Rogue in the boat. Usually it's the gold/black back/orange belly (like Catt mentioned) or chrome/black back.

I fish this on a 6 1/2' medium action rod with 12 or 14 pound test monofilament and use a Rapala loop knot.

I guess about 1/3 of my jerkbaits are Suspending Rattlin Rogues.  My best colors are clown and one that is out of production.  It has a black back, off white body, and just a touch of chartreuse on the bottom behind the bill.  I fish it on a 6'6" m/f BC rod with 10 lb. mono.

I like using rogues on the titabawassee river where there are plenty of snags and pike.  They work and if I loose one it’s not a big deal.

if I’m fishing a lake that’s known for pike especially smaller ones. I will not throw my more expensive jerk baits.
