Fished Spinney Reservoir in Colorado in September. We were going for pike. My wife was throwing a large Zara Spok and caught a 25" rainbow. I caught a 24" on a rattle trap. We were amazed.

Love it! I guess bait is bait no matter the fish. Last year it was walleye for me as the oddball. Two on a plopper and one on a spinnerbait- different days and different lakes.

Big trout they stock in the lakes here are not picky eaters it seems and they must be mostly fish eaters. I catch a lot of them on jerkbaits and full sized cranks. Even had one about take my rod away with a 3/8oz bladed jig a couple years ago.

Nice fish.  I think surprise at catching a trout on a lure comes from fly fishing.  The idea the only way you can catch trout is delicately casting a tiny fly to a rising trout.  I was into that when I first started fly fishing.  One day I was fishing the West Branch of the Delaware River when I hooked a nice trout, turned out to be an 18 inch fish.  I'd left my net in the cabin and thought to myself it just eats insects, so I lipped it.  I held it long enough, while gritting my teeth to show it to a couple of friends before I dropped it.  Found my handkerchief and wrapped it around my bleeding thumb till I could get back to the cabin and bandage it.   Definitely changed my view of trout.

My wife hooked the biggest rainbow trout I think I’ve ever seen on a Stanley Wedge spinner bait - the spinner bait did not survive the encounter, and she lost the trout due to a poor net guy.

Crazy! I swear I had one pick up a big black and blue jig two years ago with a 4/0 hook, saw it jump and throw the hook, the dog fed stockers are stupid but fun

I've seen 1 caught on a 3/8oz casting jig and caught one myself on a flipping jig out of a creek that feeds into a lake. I've caught a few on 1/2oz traps also. They can almost be annoying if you get around enough of them and aren't targeting them.

Fishing a big rock flat hoping to find some feeding Bass and couldn't keep these buggers away. I landed about 8 and lost at least that many. Brian.

I have to stop watching fishing videos cuz I wind up buying all kinds of stuff. I just saw a video about the Red Eye Shad. It has a unique action almost like a Senko. On a slack line it falls straight horizontally with a wiggle. I bought all 3 weights in different colors. I hope they work!
