Favorite Ned rig jig heads.

I like the Zman Shroomz in 1/20 for most of my Ned rig fishing.  My only complaint (besides the price) is that the very effective keeper occasionally cuts a fingertip when unhooking fish.

About all I use are Mule Fishing Mule or Workhorse, or Owner blockhead EWG jigheads (depending on the situation).

I make my own Ned jigs using the Do-It Midwest Finesse Jig Mold.  I use a #2 Mustad hook.  I have tried #4 hooks (what Ned recommends), #1, and 1/0 and have found that #2 works the best for me with TRDs and other similar size baits.  I do not use the bait keeper and superglue my baits to the jig.  I also superglue my small swimbaits and a Neko weight into Z-Man baits because they easily come out otherwise.

I have only used one vial but I was able to glue a bunch of baits at once and still had some left over.  Plus, I have 49 more to use.  Figure even if I just use them once, it is worth it.

I make my own also. Haven't done the math but I'd estimate a jighead cost me between $.10 and $.15 apiece to make between the keeper, hook, and paint. I like a #1 Eagle Claw but have some down to a #6. The keeper works well for me, I never use glue on them.

Bad thing about doing it yourself is first you have to spend a couple hundred in equipment before you can start saving a few pennies ?

I find the hook keeper on these are great,no need for glue, and they are often on sale at a good price, also for more money a tungsten option is available.

Exposed hook: Z-Man Ned Lockz HD Jig Head

Weedless hook: Z-Man Nedlockz EWG Jig Heads

 

Locite is harder to locate in Canada, for my brethren north of the border: Lepage Super Glue Liquid works well with Z-man plastics. You'll lose your whole bait before it comes off, and if you want to remove a bait that's been adhered with the Lepage, you can scrape it off with a knife.
