#2 hook equals?

Google failed me on such a simple question, so sorry about that What 1/0,2/0 would be close to a #2 hook in a jig head?

Hook sizes

If it's a # - then the larger the number, the smaller the hook

If it's two numbers separated by a / - then the larger the first number, the larger the hook.

 

So smallest to largest

...#8, #6, #4, #2, #1, 1/0, 2/0, 3/0...

 

So the 1/0 would be the closest in size to a #2

While manufacturers don’t necessarily hold tight to a size standard, generally speaking, the closest hook sizes to a #2 would be a #1 (slightly larger) or a #3 (slightly smaller). This trend reverses once you get into ‘aught’ numbered hooks, so a 1/0 would he smaller than a 2/0, and hence closer to a #2.

Thank you, Do you think going from a 1/0 to a 2/0 for a jr fluke would kill the action of the bait if I'm hopping it on bottom

I don't think it'll affect it that much...the 2/0 will be slightly heavier, but not enough to really matter.

It depends on the shank length and thickness of the wire.  The heavier that hook is the more influence it will have on the bait, whether its good or bad.  Sometimes I like a Heavy wire hook on unweighted flukes just to keep the bait down a little better.  If its on a T or free rig I generally want a lighter hook.

1/0 is smaller than 2/0, 2 is smaller than both by a large margin. I've settled on 20 ga, #1 buckshot for home defense...

 

ps: There is no standard in hook sizes, so hooks labeled the same # from different manufacturers may differ in size.
