Eric 26 Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Never in my 53 years of life watching and playing football have I ever seen anything such as this. Prayers to Damar Hamlin?? 2 Quote
Super User gim Posted January 3, 2023 Super User Posted January 3, 2023 Don’t think they’ll be playing the rest of this game tonight. Really a potentially horrific and strange situation that has probably never occurred before. 1 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 3, 2023 Super User Posted January 3, 2023 Only time I remember seeing something like this was when reggie lews went down and later died during practice. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted January 3, 2023 Global Moderator Posted January 3, 2023 I doubt they will continue the game and shouldn’t until his condition is known. If he is out of danger with a positive Prognosis ok resume play. But after the 2 coaches talked on the field and they suspended the game, without knowing that I doubt they will. Quote
Super User gim Posted January 3, 2023 Super User Posted January 3, 2023 I rewinded it back to the play and it didn’t appear to be anything out of the ordinary. He made the tackle, stood back up, and then fell over. All the fans are still there so I assume they are still intending to resume at some point otherwise they would have made an announcement that they should all leave. Quote

I don’t see how any of them on either team could be in the right frame of mind to play. Quote

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 3, 2023 BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 3, 2023 Thoughts and prayers to Damar Hamlin's family, friends, teammates, and NFL fans that witnessed the tragedy that unfolded tonight. I don't have any words. I'm stunned. 1 Quote
Super User gim Posted January 3, 2023 Super User Posted January 3, 2023 They just suspended the game, at least for tonight. I’m assuming possibly the worst outcome, otherwise you think they would make an announcement about his status and resume the game. Quote

They did just say he’s in critical condition, so hopefully he pulls through. 3 Quote
Super User NorthernBasser Posted January 3, 2023 Super User Posted January 3, 2023 So sad and scary. Like all of you, I've never seen anything like this. Please God let this young man be ok. 1 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted January 3, 2023 Super User Posted January 3, 2023 I am so glad the NFL listened to their better voices tonight. There was no way they could let that game continue after that horrific injury to Bill's Damar Hamlin. When's the last time you ever saw an NFL player have to get CPR on the field....? I've seen players get paralyzed (Lions, Bills) and this is worse. Far worse. I hope & pray Hamlin survives.... 1 Quote
MidwestBassAttack Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Prayers out to Damar, his family, and all of the staff on the field tonight. Seeing him stand up, falter, then collapse in the fashion he did I can say with absolute certainty this is not going to have a good outcome. Life is fragile folks. Prayers, prayers, and more prayers. 1 Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted January 3, 2023 Super User Posted January 3, 2023 He was hit in the chest by the other players shoulder. It must have stopped his heart. News coverage said the cpr restarted his heart while on the field. Hopefully he recovers. 1 Quote

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 3, 2023 BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 3, 2023 They also used a defibrillator on the field. Glad they got his heart working again. What damage he may have from not breathing for several minutes is the big question now. 1 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted January 3, 2023 Super User Posted January 3, 2023 This analysis has been making the rounds. If this is what happened, this is a very good explanation/visual. 2 Quote
volzfan59 Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Prayers for Demar Hamlin to make a full recovery. It's happened before. Do any of you remember when Chuck Hughes of the Detroit Lions had a heart attack and died on the field? It was back in the 70's in a game against the Chicago Bears. I was eleven or twelve at the time. 1 Quote

No, way too young for that. I did read about it today though. I find it interesting that after a short pause, they simply resumed the game too. 1 Quote
