I have 2 rods, both are labeled medium/moderate,  but have vastly different specs. I’m trying to decide if I need to buy a medium heavy moderate rod or not.

rod 1: ark lancer pro 6 10, 1/8-5/8 oz lures 8-14 lb line

rod 2: Fenwick hmg 7’2” 3/8-1oz 8-17 lb line. The Fenwick hmg medium heavy moderate is 7’4” 3/8 oz-1oz lures 10-20 lb line. I was going to buy a 7’2” medium heavy/moderate lancer pro but they’re sold out everywhere that I’ve looked.

I am wondering if based on the specs of the lancer pro/hmg would cover most of mh crankbait needs, Or if I should proceed to find a medium heavy/moderate rod. I know there are no industry standards for what rods are labeled. I think these 2 rods should pretty much cover it, but wanted more feedback. Thanks In advance.

That Fenwick is what I consider a MH based on the lure rating.

Stick with the rods you got - you got it covered.

My thoughts exactly. My Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth 6'10" MHMF has almost the exact same specs.  Try what you have, I think you'll be fine.

Dave I saw your post about the st croix warranty and how you used it for rods that were broken by your own fault. I broke my rod yesterday and I submitted the warranty form but I mentioned to them it was my own fault! Will they still help me out? What did they do for you???

Not Dave but... I mentioned mine broke when i put the anchor on it, they didn't care and replaced it.

As long as the warranty is still in effect, they will help.  If you broke it through your own fault, they will replace it at a pretty significantly reduced cost.  Sure beats buying new.  First thing I would do is call them.  Great customer service, they will explain all your options.

Thankyou for responding so fast, so I filled out the warranty request form and took the pictures and I mentioned it was my fault ?‍♂️. But it’s less than a year old and I registered it when I bought it.

Hey so I went on their website filled the warranty out and in the subject line I put honesty is the best policy and I broke it. They emailed me today saying they couldn’t see the break in the picture and could I re submit the form so I called them and talked to someone. They are sending me a brand new replacement of the same exact rod and told me to keep my old rod take some pliers and crush it up so that serial number wouldn’t be used? Idk but I think it could repair it
