Super User Darth-Baiter Posted December 30, 2022 Super User Posted December 30, 2022 ....than any of my friends. super annoying. water was 59 degs on everyones fish finder. my finger felt cold water. my fish finder indicated an impossible 69 degs. balmy. fish should be spawning i lost my micro SD card, and i'm currently putting on pants to go buy another one for a software update. i did a hard reset. no change. any thoughts? i know i can change the temp datum to calibrate it, but that annoys the OCD version of me to no end. time for an upgrade? i have been learning how to read side scan and could use the upgrade i suppose. Super User king fisher Posted January 1, 2023 Super User Posted January 1, 2023 Buy a thermometer made for aquariums at a pet store. They are inexpensive an accurate. Then compare to your fish finder. Most fish finders have a Temperature offset in the settings menu. I'm not sure about your model, but it might have the option. If not, than subtract the difference in your head. On the sport fisher I captain, we have $30,000 worth of electronics on board, one garmin system, and one Furuno system, and I still check the water temp. daily with a thermometer. It is not uncommon for one unit on the boat to read a few degrees high and the other few degrees low. I go to the menu and change the setting to read correctly. Most of the time you will only have to change the offset one time, and it will read correctly for years. 1 Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted January 2, 2023 Author Super User Posted January 2, 2023 thanks. I found the calibration option. I did just subtract 9.8 deg..for fun. I will dangle a real thermometer overboard next time to double check. I have some at work that we measure concrete temps with that are overly precise. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted January 3, 2023 Super User Posted January 3, 2023 Just out of curiosity, where is your transducer mounted and what kind of boat or watercraft is it on? Quote

Super User WIGuide Posted January 3, 2023 Super User Posted January 3, 2023 Gotcha, it could just be a wacky temp sensor that reads high then or possibly it doesn't sit quite as deep in the water as the others or the transducer is still able to retain some heat from the air. Regardless, if you've adjusted the temp offset I would think it would be fine since you said it seems to read consistently warm. 1 Quote

I can't imagine how it would matter either, but FYI - 12.4 volts is about 75% charge. 12.6 volts is approx 100%. If your battery can't get above 12.4 after a full charge, it's probably going bad.
