PourMyOwn Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 Pretty rarely with the exception of two or three guys who actually know what I'm talking about-and a few students (I'm a HS teacher) at school. It is really cool having conversations with random kids who don't even take my class. 1 Quote
Logan S Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 All day every day just about...Majority of my close friends are all bass fisherman and we all fish the same tournament trails. Always something fishing, boat, or gear related to BS about. I essentially never talk about fishing with people that don't actually fish though. 1 1 Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted December 30, 2022 Super User Posted December 30, 2022 A fair amount I'd say. A few of my close friends as well as my dad are into bass fishing so we're bouncing stuff off one another. I'm sure my gf wishes I didn't talk about it as much as I do, even though she does like fishing, just not to the near religious level I do. Outside of that circle though, not all that much. There are a lot of people around here who fish, but their level of interest and understanding isn't quite the same level. Not trying to make myself sound better than anyone, as I still welcome the discussion if they bring it up, but discussing the type of bobber they use the 3 times a year they fish doesn't really do much for me haha. 2 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted December 30, 2022 Global Moderator Posted December 30, 2022 Almost every day on here to you guys. To Mrs Mike only when I have a trip planned and then only where, when and how long I’ll be gone. She’s a good girl!! Mike 2 Quote

RB 77 Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 At work? Everyday, all day. I work in the fishing industry. Outside of work? As little as possible unless I'm going fishing. Haha 2 Quote

It is really cool having conversations with random kids who don't even take my class. I co-taught a class last year with a colleague who is a better, more diehard fishermen than I am. Our specialties are on different waters so we had lots of information to exchange. We often would find time during class to have a quick chat about something fishing-related. He turned me on to spots and techniques that really improved my fishing here locally on a waterway that I never fished much. I would say out of all our conversations last year, 90% were fishing-related. It was probably a good thing that he transferred to another district school, due to coaching, and nowadays we only talk through texts or the few all-district activities we have every year. We've been working on starting a district bass team but admins are a little resistant. In terms of the rest of my life, the only people I really talk fishing with is my wife and she is just humoring me. I used to tell all my stories to my father until he passed away. I pretty much only fish by myself and I have often thought it would be good to have some fishing buddies to share info with but I'm quite picky about my fishing and secretive so being a loaner is just easier. 1 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted January 4, 2023 Super User Posted January 4, 2023 It’s easy to talk about topics that bring you joy and spur your passion and interest whether you have an audience or talk to yourself, which in my latest years, I seem to do often. Quote
Super User Bird Posted January 5, 2023 Super User Posted January 5, 2023 Every body of water I see while driving, always wonder how the Bass fishing is. The wife even asked me today while driving home from dropping our daughter off at the airport while I intensily starred at a large farm pond. She said with a grin " do you think it's stocked with Bass ? " ? Bass fishing is an everyday topic whether I'm on the water or on the couch. Quote
Big Hands Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 With fishing buddies? Almost immediately. With myself? Constantly. With family or anyone else? Only if they ask, and even then, only briefly. Quote

Super User the reel ess Posted January 5, 2023 Super User Posted January 5, 2023 I don't usually bring it up to someone who I know doesn't care. If someone asks me I'll gladly engage them. Sometimes people will ask a complicated question and I'll try to answer without them getting the 100 yard stare. You know when you're getting too technical. 1 Quote
Functional Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 a lot of the people I know in my area only saltwater fish (which I know slim to nothing about) or catfish and they seem to have no interest in bass fishing so I kind of stopped talking about it. Once in a blue moon with my BIL and only text one buddy every now and then. He typically fishes for browns back in NY and there are slim to none in my area. In general, I try not to talk to people though so that might have something to do with it. Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted January 5, 2023 Super User Posted January 5, 2023 not much. one of the reasons I joined this forum. to chat with like-minded fanatics. my office coworkers. I spare them the fish photos and stuff. Quote
