Super User Mobasser Posted December 29, 2022 Super User Posted December 29, 2022 For hooded sweatshirts, do you like the pull over style, or the zip front style? I have both, but prefer a zip front type the best. Carhartt has been my favourite brand. What style do you prefer? Quote

Just says FISH on the front with some arm logos. Kinda cheesy but the fish don’t seem to care. I don’t tend to wear it in public. 2 Quote
Super User gim Posted December 29, 2022 Super User Posted December 29, 2022 I'm a big hoodie guy in the winter. I probably have about 10 that I regularly wear. Most of them are the pull over type. Really no preference whether they are pullover or zip up style. This is my favorite one right now. Its a gray Ranger Boats dry-fit one made by Under Armor. 3 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted December 29, 2022 Super User Posted December 29, 2022 Insulated, wind proof with a Zipper front. And if I'm using it for a top layer fishing, it MUST have zippered pockets. Hate Hate HATE, when the rod handle gets caught in the hoodie pocket. Took what seemed like forever to find one that covered all of that. My wife actually hooked me up. Sure she was tired of listening to me complain . . . . A-Jay 5 Quote
padlin Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Zip. Have a Carhartt but it’s too heavy, prefer them a bit lighter. I have a couple of both types, mostly gifts, it’ll be a long while till I need another. 1 Quote
Super User GaryH Posted December 29, 2022 Super User Posted December 29, 2022 90% pullover but my heavy weights are zip up. 2 Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted December 29, 2022 Super User Posted December 29, 2022 I have both and wear both for different occasions. I have a couple of Carhartts but they are stiff and heavy so I cut and haul wood in them. 1 Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted December 29, 2022 Super User Posted December 29, 2022 I have both but prefer the zip up ones because they are easier to get on & you can ventilate them if you get too warm. My favorites are the heavy lined ones which I wear as a final layer except if it's raining. 8 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted December 29, 2022 Super User Posted December 29, 2022 I like the pull over style. I like to wear the lined ones under my rain suit in cold weather. They are not as bulky as a coat and I'm able to move around easier. 2 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted December 29, 2022 Super User Posted December 29, 2022 I prefer the pull over style. I have about a dozen of them. In the winter time and I’m hanging around the house, there is a 100% chance I’m wearing a hooded sweatshirt. Doesn’t get more comfy than sweatpants and a big pullover hoodie for house lounging. I have a Cabela’s Guidewear insulated hoodie for fishing that is super warm and comfortable and an excellent choice for early and late season bassin’. 3 Quote

Super User MN Fisher Posted December 29, 2022 Super User Posted December 29, 2022 Zip-up - pullovers pull my ponytail band out too often. 1 Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted December 30, 2022 Super User Posted December 30, 2022 Pullover. I buy a brand I found on Amazon called Bassdash. Great fleece water repellent hoodies with a built in fleece face mask for $40. I have Under Armour hoodies for twice the price that are the same quality. Quote
Woody B Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 I hate hoods. They make me feel like I'm in a tunnel. I wear some type of hat and possible a gaitor too when it's cold. Quote

Super User Log Catcher Posted December 30, 2022 Super User Posted December 30, 2022 I like the zippered ones. I don't have any Carhartt or any other super heavy or expensive ones. Depending on the temp I can wear a hoodie for warmth or put on my Carhartt jacket over it and I'm guaranteed to stay warm. 2 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted December 30, 2022 Super User Posted December 30, 2022 Pull over. It makes it much easier when they put on my straight jacket. 1 Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted December 30, 2022 Super User Posted December 30, 2022 Pullover for me as well and I wear one at some point for 8-9 months of the year. When I had a much bigger belly zipups weren't very flattering... might have to reassess now that I don't look full term. ? 2 Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted December 30, 2022 Super User Posted December 30, 2022 Pullover hands down. Have a couple carhartt ones that I absolutely love. 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted December 30, 2022 Global Moderator Posted December 30, 2022 Got several of both, I use Sherpa lined zip up the most. When it’s really cold I have a goose down zip up with hood from Eddie bauer. It’s my first ever down, my wife got it for me after watching me backpack up mountains stuffing heavy jackets in my pack . The light weight down is great if you have to tote or pack it 1 Quote
Super User casts_by_fly Posted December 30, 2022 Super User Posted December 30, 2022 Pullover for me. I wear one almost daily from October through April. For fishing I have one my wife got as work swag that has the built in neck gaiter/turtle neck which is great when it’s windy or rainy. Otherwise it’s have a bunch of under armors that I got as gifts that I use. when it gets too warm for a hoodie I swap to a long sleeve hooded T-shirt with a neck gaiter from academy that someone here suggested earlier in the year. Nothing worse than a chill down the back of your neck. Quote
