Super User Darth-Baiter Posted December 29, 2022 Super User Posted December 29, 2022 haha..i havent been on the water for 2 months. dealing with mom issues, plus rain, plus a rare lack of motivation. today was the day. i called the boss and asked for a Wednesday off. it is our only CLEAR non-rain day this week. (clouds are rolling in as i type this) i hit up a brand new spot. zero knowledge, and i managed to convince a few friends to come with me. Stripers. we found them. i got five hard charging Striped Bass on a Vision 110. water was brackish. so it took some cleaning to get my kayak right afterwards. i dropped a rod into the drink..but thankfully i had a Vision110 hooked to my hand and my jacket. all i had to do was grab the line and pull my rod up. i hosed off the reel and will lube it tomorrow. fingers crossed. my friends suck as photographers. sorry. 18 Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted December 29, 2022 Super User Posted December 29, 2022 You just need the right gear. MHF rod/ 17# XT and a stout reel. I have had great luck with the Alabama Rig. Quote

Stripers can definitely make any fishing trip a great one this time of year and I’m guessing you were up in the north bay. Topwater, lipless crankbaits, swimbaits, trolling broke back rebels and as you demonstrated in those pictures, jerkbaits. Thanks for the report and good fishing 1 Quote

I landed a 20+lb buffalo hooked in the tail, in current, from my kayak a few days ago, you'll be fine. 1 Quote
