We both snore and both wear noise canceling ear buds with music playing.

This post got me thinking about how noise affects our sleeping.  I grew up not far from an interstate and beyond that railroad tracks that would shake the pictures on the wall.  Tracks were probably 1/2 mile away.  I slept right through the Jake brakes of the big rigs on the highway and the heavy coal cars on the railroad.  When I got older I moved to a farm out in the country where it was dead quiet and after that, any noise would wake me up.  When I moved to Kansas City and before I bought my house, I lived in some high dollar apartments and didn’t find out that they were not far from railroad tracks and worse yet close to a crossing so the trains blew their horns every time they came by that crossing.  I never wore earplugs until about 5 years ago and now I can’t sleep without them.

i can really snore. fred flintstone  ain't got nothin' on me.  when i lay down, i'm alseep inside of 5 minutes, most times.  i only seem to snore when i'm over-tired, but when i do, it's pretty loud.  when i was still married, the wife wasn't a big fan of my snoring, but she REALLY hated how fast i fall asleep.  jealousy. hahaha

she would wrap herself around me, for about the first year.  it would make me sweat, and she'd get annoyed with me for sweating on her.  over the years, she learned to just steal the blankets by wrapping herself in them as if she was a hot dog in a crescent roll, making it impossible to get them back. i learned  to wear pajamas to keep from getting cold. i have this other thing i do, that every woman i ever had absolutely hated.  if i'm stressed out, i'll sit up, with my eyes open. sometimes i say stuff.

my only real gripe about her sleeping was her fake snore. sometimes she would make this noise every time she exhaled, "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee(draw a breath) eeeeeeeeeeeeeee..."

i woker her up one night and told her "look, if you're gonna start snoring, that's fine, i'm ok with it, but that noise you're making drives me up the wall." hahaha

on the other hand, my dogs don't care how loudly i snore, they don't steal the blankets,  and they don't care (most of the time) if they get a dutch oven

My girlfriend is the same way. I can fall asleep in about 15 seconds once my head hits the pillow and she is so jealous. It takes her a while to fall asleep and she lets me hear about it. Probably why I wake up well rested most of the time and she doesn’t.

Disclaimer:  Mrs B is my partner, best friend, and the best thing that's ever happened to me.

I have seen her lick Mrs B in the face, and not wake her up.

My girlfriend ******* about this very same thing...I'm a light sleeper but have no issue falling asleep. When she gets mad at me for it I say maybe you'd be more tired if you worked harder. That usually goes over really good.

Why is it that the snorer ALWAYS falls asleep first? My wife is the one who snores in our house. I’m a light sleeper and hate using ear plugs.  A few years ago, we started sleeping in separate bedrooms and we both get a good nights sleep now.
