So I've been looking pretty hard the last week or so for a rod and reel specifically for throwing hardbaits for panfish. Considered going the BFS route but couldn't find what I want. Settled on a BPS panfish elite 6'8" ultralight and for a reel I settled on a Daiwa Legalis LT size 1000... Weight is only 6.5oz and for a bonus the color scheme matches the rod.

Sounds like a nice rig

Though personally I think the rod is a little under-powered for hardbaits. I'm running an Okuma Celilo rod - 1/32-3/8 lures vs the 1/32-3/16 of the BPS...also the longer length of the Celilo - 7'6" - lets me whip the 1/10oz Creme lipless and 1/16oz Road Runners out quite a ways.

I'm gonna be using the rod primarily for size F03 rapala floating minnows, strike king bitsy minnows, rapala ultralight minnows and the smallest rebel value minnows. All of those baits are shallow divers and between 1\16 and 1\8 oz  so I think the rod will handle them fine. But time will tell.

Don’t forget yo-zuri snap bean for shallow and Rapala countdown 01/03 for deeper.
For shallow crank, like snap bean and bisty minnow, a small split shot weight 8” in front can get it down there.

I've been meaning to grab a couple snap beans...thanks for reminding me

I have this rod and it’s definitely parabolic in its action. The beauty of bps at least in my experience is the generous return policy. I mention this as I have the 7’-2” light powered version as well and it’s just a tad bit faster if that’s your preference. I believe you may have seen the attached photo but for reference this is the 6’-8” ultralight and a pre rigged Creme boot tail in 1/32 oz. I’ve never had a problem getting good distance from this setup. As a color match guy myself I’m hoping to pick up that exact reel also.CF95AED6-77EC-472B-B05E-BE28B7966BB1.jpeg.e54cab106ea4845b7d8f6758db6ba7e6.jpeg6D672261-D74A-447B-8B2B-8A1528FA16CC.jpeg.ad56662a293159ac275144675d5d76a3.jpeg

Parabolic is perfect since ill be throwing tiny treble hook baits.
