I'm looking to pick up one of these rods, I had a 7ft M posion adrena and was extremely disappointed in it, tip heavy and not ultra sensitive,  I have a 7ft ML Zodias spinning rod and it is outstanding. I am seeking a finesse set up for light Ned's, the UL power on the adrena worries me , but it's rated up to a 1/2 oz , so I'm not sure what's the story there. Just to make things more interesting,  I am also thinking about an Edge Black Widow DSR 711 spinning  for this finesse set up. If anyone has experience with any of these rods ,please post your opinions. Thanks in advance.

I have used the 7' Zodias light and the Poison adrena 6'10" ultralight.

If you like the Zodias ML then you might like the Light. I didn't find it all that sensitive and don't like shimano's eva foam. The eva foam is personal thing. I didn't like it enough to keep the rod.

The 6'10" poison adrena is a decent rod. It's got the tip of an ultralight rod with the backbone of a med light to med rod. It is  fairly sensitive and lightweight. I actually have two of these rods. I use them for 1/32 to 1/8 jigheads with small soft plastics. As long as you are not  throwing a T-rig soft plastic it should do fine.

I agree the 7' med poison adrena was a big disappointment. Very tip heavy and a heavy rod overall. Shimano missed the mark on that rod.

You could also try the Expride 7' light and 6'10 med light. I have both of these rods in A and B version. Both decent rods. I haven't tried the 7'2" med light yet but if it's like its siblings, its probably a pretty decent rod.

You'd being doing yourself a disservice if you didn't at least look at the MegaBass Levante Whipsnake and even Shakeyhead models.    They fit your specs, price range, quality, etc.

I own the Shakeyhead model.....my only complaint is the top end is a bit too light, but outside of that the sensitivity is fantastic, balancing extremely well albeit 4+ ozs, and it's the most beautiful rod you'll likely ever see for under $500.

I really like the Zodius, but not as much as the Levante.  Check it out, especially since you are wanting sensitivity a more forgiving top half from the sound of it.

So I actually bought the the Landsat with high hopes for it, and I was severely disappointed with it, the handle was very uncomfortable and I found the sensitivity average at best. I sold the rod for a loss, that experience with megabass has turned me off.

You know what, I keep hearing more and more about that 7ft expride light, I may go down that route. Thanks for the detailed analysis of your experience, it is appreciated.

Yeah I don't know about the Landsat as they only offer 3 models in the new Levantes.

Good luck with your search, maybe Conquest/Loomis series of rods are what you are looking for.

everybody is different but i looked at that rod and to me it was like a spaghetti noodle. of the rods talked about so far the megabass orochi and expride 7ft light are my favorites. i own the whipsnake, shakeyhead , and the shimano and like them all. although since megabass raised the price 50 bucks its a little tough to swallow.

The Landsat is a destroyer P5 model, which is their top end rods, 500$+. I have never spoken to someone who ended up really liking that rod, general consensus has been "only buy if you have money to burn". Megabass generally has better actions but their sensitivity is not on par as far as 500$ rods go. They will give a good run for money at 200-300, but the higher end isn't quite there on the spinning end. They have never been a bottom contact/jig and worm rod company though.

The Shakeyhead is a great spinning rod in the megabass line, but not what you are looking for as far as ned rigs go, it can do it, but definitely not the dedicated rod you would want. Whipsnake is fun, but mine broke when it really shouldn't have and I replaced it with a Zodias 7'0 ML and don't regret it one bit. However, I would recommend looking into the new US Destroyer rod line up coming out this February. The Addermine is coming back and has a big big big cult following for ned rigging, Flyssa might be up your alley too if you have a knack for longer rods.

I also would recommend the 7'0 L Expride, but specifically the Expride A. I have heard that the new L Expride B is not the same rod that everyone loved at all, and it will probably end up being really similar to your Zodias. A lot of people really loved the Expride A 7'0 L, it had a lot of fans despite being sort of an odd model for the Expride line up. If you can find it that would make a great option, but the Expride A is discontinued now so you might have to look for a last lingering one in stock or go used.

I went back to my fun store today and fondled a bunch of high end rods which obviously can only tell you so much....however I see your point.   I was looking at specifically the Destroyer, Orochi, and then Levante in their "Jerkbait Special".    I used the Expride 6'10 medium which I'm pretty sure is the gold standard in Jerkbait rods.       The $279 Expride was significantly nicer in the hand than both the high end MegaBass models, and that's the rod I would pick.  That said, the Levante again was a fantastic option at $250, but for 30 more I feel the  Expride B was the better option.

Didn't mean to derail OP's thread.

I ordered the 7ft Expride B Light, I have been very happy with my 7 Ft ML Zodias, so even if this is the same in sensitivity,  I prefer the longer foregrip so that will be a win. Thanks for all the input everyone.

I see an Expride B in my future, they certainly feel awesome in the hand.  Congrats!

Wish the Levantes and the Orochis never got that 50$ price bump. They were an insane deal before that.

Exprides always punch above their weight, never a bad pick! Would love to hear what you think once you've got some hours into it.

For sure, I got mine for $200.      At that price I'm back on board vs. the Expride.

Yes glad you caught that, from the research i have done, generally but not always, UL rods in bass rod lineups are generally stiffer. Best bet might be to buy a dedicated UL rod. I had a diawa arid x UL and it was stiff, more like a light or maybe a medium light. Jdm Shimano has more UL items, but be warned their FW UL rods are much more soft and parabolic, and their SW ones are super stiff, no inbetween.

I have the Zodias 7’ ML and the Expride 7’ L. I like the Zodias, but I like the Expride even more. Great for lighter baits including weightless Senkos. All around excellent rod.

A guide I know recently started using Edge Black widow drop shot rod and claims it’s the most sensitive rod he has used.

Changing his Loomis NRX’s to Edge Black widows. He says the carbon handle takes a few hours to get use to, once you feel strikes it’s a game changer plus about 1 ounce lighter then NRX rods.

Some recommendations after reading ;

1. Evergreen Salty Sensation Scout Master  7'0 Rod weight 55 Gram    Lure weight - 0.4 - 10 gram

2. Yamaga-Blanks BlueCurrent Jig Special 72 / TZ Nano  7'2 rod   Rod weight 70 grams   Lure weight 1.5-15grams

3. Edge Black Widow Gary Loomis

4. NRX+ 852 spinning

5. Steez "The One" 7'6 mml (handles light stuff just fine and can step up to heavier uses)

Good luck!

Could you compare the two?  I'd be interested in a review.

I prefer the Expride B light over the Edge 711, I like the handle grip on the Expride, I find the Expride to be more comfortable.  I felt the Edge 711 was too soft, sensitivity was  similar between the two, maybe a little better with the Expride.
