Looking at the Zillion HD to put on my Orochi XX Perfect Pitch. How does this reel handle pitching 3/8 and 1/2 ounce jigs? I already have a Jdm Zillion SV I use for crankbaits. Not sure if I should go with the HD or just get another SV. What are the difference’s in the USDM and JDM HD’s?

Yeah it would be perfect for that, but it's perfect for many, many things.   If you love the SV TW, you'll love the HD.

@T-Billy  Don't you use yours to haul pigs out flipping and tossing jigs on yours.

I throw mid sized big swimbaits with mine around cover.    I want another one for T-Rigs and Jigs.

I don't think there's a USDM version of the 22 Zillion TW HD 1000 (new body style) yet, but there is the older US Zillion TW HD 1520 (old body style). The new 22 Zillion has a clicker drag, which I like for salt water species. It also already has a 100mm handle with power knobs, and also has a brass main gear.

Ok thanks. I noticed the US model has the brake dial in a different location so it is a different reel then.

My two are on my chatterbait rods. I'll be ordering two more in a couple weeks. They're versatile, super smooth, long casting reels. I love those handles. I wish all my reels had 'em.

The us one is the old one.  Its a good reel though.  They are the size of a tatula 200 and have a fixed rotor spool too but it is shallower and lighter than the tatula 200 spool with a faster spool speed but still controlled enough to work well with big lines.  The jdm one is smaller with less capacity and has a magZ boost spool.

Yeah it takes a second to get used to the noise of the boost spool if you really bombcast something.

I find the SV TW and TW HD to be equally user friendly, and by that, I mean you can go from one reel to the other and besides the awesome huge handle and grips on the HD, you feel you have the same reel in your hand with the same performance and incredible smoothness.

I could standardize with just these two reels and be happy, but atlas there are so many other cool, and awesome reels in the universe that need trying.

One small thing that was a big thing for me on the SV TW vs TW HD.....the SV TW has some kind of plastic/composite star drag knob....whereas the one on the TW HD appears to be AI.     Nice upgrade there imo.

Trying to find one in stock. Digitaka sold out earlier today. Japan Lure Shop has one for 290 but checking out with PayPal the price jumps up to 322.

You can’t damage the reel by pulling hard using your rod  unless you point the rod tip at the at a snag taking the rod out of the force being applied. Very few bass rods can lift more then 8 lbs of weight/force without breaking. 8 lbs of pulling force isn’t going to bend the spool shaft or damage the end plates or bearings.

Tom

PS 1 gallon of water weighs 8 lbs, trylifting a gallon jug of water using your heavy rod!

Not responsible for rod breakage.

It's a big boy reel meant for hammering toads, nothing finesse outside of the weight and ergos of these reels.

Totally worth the price you paid, you'll just wish you had more money to buy more if you are like me.

Received my new Zillion today. Got an email from Japan Lure Shop on Tuesday that they shipped it. 3 days from Japan to Virginia. ? They even threw in a free Megabass Vision 110. Zero adjust was a little tighter than I like so I loosened it up some more.

They seem to be out of stock or low in inventory everywhere.  I just ordered two LH 7 speeds from Asian Portal. They only had four in inventory. First time ordering from them. Easy, pleasant shopping experience, just like Digitaka. Price has gone up $19 from $280 to $299 since I bought my first two.

I'll soon have these on all four of my 7'4" H MF Ark Invokers. What an outstanding combo for single hook moving baits, or baits with stout trebles like a plopper.

I had forgotten all about Amazon Japan before I ordered mine. I checked and they have a few left for $276 after shipping.

Never mind. Says cannot ship to United States.

Does anyone know how to take the knobs off of this reel? The caps won’t pop off like other Daiwa reels. I don’t like the round knobs and want to replace them with SV knobs.

Was there not a tool in the box to unthread the knob caps?

No but looking at the papers I see how they come off now. Thanks

I don't like them either. I ended up making a makeshift tool out of a fork to get them off. They unscrew the opposite direction you think they should. @T-Billy @AlabamaSpothunter want a set of HD knobs? I have 2 or 3 sets.

Very kind and generous offer!

The Braided Wonder might need backups, he's rolling deep in HDs ?

I couldn't remember if you liked them or not. I have 1 set of the current HD knobs, I think I sent someone else my other set. I also have 2 sets of the previous Zillion HD knobs, they are a little fatter than the current version. If you guys want them I'm happy to send them out, just pm me your address, I won't use them. Direct swap on any Daiwa reel.

I made a tool out of a fork and they came right off. Thanks for the tip.

I have been thinking of replacing them on this reel as well. I like the knobs on it for cranking but not for bottom contact jigs and soft plastic. I have this odd thing about pinching the knobs with my pointer finger and my thumb.  It feels weird to do this on those bigger knobs. I might see if I can switch the handle and knobs on the Zillion HD to the new Steez A II, which I will be using for deep cranks.
