Which would you choose for 4lb line for trout fishing? I know the diameter of 4lb CXX is .0072, but I don't know about diameter of Izorline XXX, 4lb. I've used P-Line CXX in moss green in the past and have been happy, but was wondering if Izorline XXX is any better.

4lb izorline is about the same diameter as good 6lb FC which rate at .008 (from feel and vision). Never tried CXX except 10lb which a little bit larger and stiffer than 10lb Izorline. I think Turner’s carry both line in stock.
You plan to use as mainline or leader? Stream trout or stocked lake trout? I switch to super line (Nanofil Nanobraid) as mainline for mainly distance.

If you're throwing lures and want to stick to mono, few lines are better than Varivas Super Trout Advance Twitch Master. I have this on my UL and its been great. You seem to be interested in diameter, this line comes in at .006, .148mm for the 4# with the 8# test being .008, .215mm.

For an off-the-shelf line, the new Trilene sensation has worked well for me. 4# test .008, .20mm.

That said, from the 2 options you gave, I'd go izorline.

I’d never use PXX for a spinning reel. Too stiff for me and coily, especially for a small diameter trout reel. 4 lb trilene xl is a good trout line.

4lb Trilene XL is the best UL line I've tried so far. It's my main UL line for both bass and trout

I like Pline CX and Sunline supernatural. I use them both in 4 lbs for trout and panfish. CX is thinner and more limber than CXX. Sunline supernatural is actually thinner than CX.

Both are good lines.

Trilene XL is also a decent line but alittle thicker.

SOS trout magnet line is also good in 4 lbs but gets stiff and more difficult to manage in 6 lbs test.

Both are okay, izorline is really overhyped for SOCAL, it's meh, somewhat stretchy, thicker than advertised diameter. Trilene XL is not as stretchy, handles well and out of all is most likely the softest, but is slightly thinner and freighs more easily. Pline cxx has absolutely without a doubt best abrasion resistance and least stretch of all, only problem is in clear trout areas I notice it can turn fish off. Don't get first string by izorline 2lb is 6lb diameter and handles terribly, wirey, just ugh.

Maxima also is very very good, is thicker than most  but manages very very well.

My  top recommendation though is sunline super natural for usdm, runs thinner than most lines, but is by far the best of management.

If you are buying directly from sunline get troutist darkness, it's by far the best usdm trout line by far.

I really wanna see the proof of this and I don’t even believe 100% you posted from your experience.
I still have first string 4lb and can compare to any of your 6lb line that you claim smaller. The first sting is the first line get me into Izorline. Yea, it stretch just line any mono line but still softer than xxx and platinum, and hybrid. Don’t even make me compare to XT or CXX.

I use 4 and 6lb for crappie and bluegill, 8and 12 for bass. This type line you either hate it or love it. All you get is just plain distance and super light weight line (no water absorption) but the negative might turn a lot downs. No shock strength, absolutely no abrasion resistance whatsoever and very bad in even slight wind, frayed easily and harder to tie connections knot.
Why I use this line, CASTING DISTANCE, the line is super buoyancy and can make light jig head sink slower (stay in strike zone longer. The line float thus easy for line watching. The line have no weight even when wet, easier for me to concentrate on the tip movement when slow jigging. Even the line float but can cut thru water very well to improve sensitivity when swimming small jig head (my assumption is, no water absorption, flat profile and thinner than hair help for this segment)

Been using Trilene XL 4 lb. For many years for trout with no issues. Can’t comment on some of the other lines that I’ve never tried.

4 lb CXX is closer to 8 lb break strength and just doesn’t manage well on light reels. I either go braid or use Trilene XL and change it very regularly. There is no margin for error with abrasion on light line. Trilene XL is available pretty much every where.

I guess my real question is ‘how are you fishing what for trout?’ If you’re casting power bait, use the CXX.

I still think Trilene XL is your best value…

I am using izorline(2lb test), the reason is izorline is limper.
