I bought an air fryer last year and I have to say I love it. Sure, it's great if you want to cook up some french fries or onion rings, but I use it for a lot more.

One of my favorites is chicken chili lime fajitas. I have also cooked burgers in them and they come out well.

But tonight it was freezing cold out and windy and I didn't feel like firing up the grill for the Black Angus ribeye that I had waiting to go, so it was my air fryer to the rescue. I brushed on some olive olive and use Tony Chachere's Bold creole seasoning for a rub and cooked it at 390 degrees and 6 minutes each side.

To my surprise, not only did it come out perfect medium rare, but it also had a nice crust and was perfectly juicy. I love cooking on my grill, but honestly this was just as good. I was worried about ruining a nice cut of meat, but I honestly think I'll do this again. I have a nice cut of veal that I may try next.

We just picked up a multi-mode machine and air-fryer is one of it's modes...did some chicken fingers for dinner tonight....much better than I've gotten anywhere else since we can customize the coating and not get 'generic'.

Toast, broil, bake, and rotisserie are a few of it's other modes...planning on rotisserie chicken middle of the week.

I’ve got a multi purpose thing that toasts, bakes, air fries, etc. I honestly don’t use the air fry mode that much, but re-heating leftovers in it are way better than the microwave.

I also have a ronco showtime horizontal rotisserie that I use for whole chickens, hams, and various roasts. It gives off a lot of heat so I only use it in the winter.

I use our air fryer all the time. I have cooked steaks and they’re always good. My favorite is air fried bacon. It’s lighter and crispier than pan frying and not greasy. Chicken wings are also really good in it.

Had one give it away

Cooked fine if you're only cooking a small amount, I cook daily for 6 people.

Portion control ?

I've seen pictures where people have 3 or 4 of them lined up on their counter. At that point you should be looking at a different piece of equipment.

I think this opinion is unpopular but I do not like “fried” food made in an air fryer, like fried fish or chicken fingers. They just taste very off to me. I’d prefer to just bake-fry foods in the oven if I’m not actually deep frying. I don’t know what it is about the air fryers that make the food taste so funky.  We have one on our kitchen counter but I really only use it to heat frozen foods. Air fryers are one of those things that I can’t understand the hype about. But I know people swear by them!

We use ours almost daily.  I haven't figured out how to do hash browns in it and I don't like the way steaks come out but other than that I think it is great.

Brush the steak - instead of the basket - with olive oil and then apply your seasonings.

It's important that the steak be at or near room temperature before you cook it in the air fryer.

I do the same thing, but then throw it on a hot skillet instead, air frying (besides just being a marketing term) is only marginally (or is it margarinelly) better than cooking with a microwave, now if you throw a beyond meat thing in there, well, yum!, don't forget the Velveeta....

We have one and use it more as time goes on. My main use is for frozen food and pretty much anything that I can cook without heating up the entire oven for small amounts.  Frozen chicken fingers, fries, frozen wings, bagels, English muffins, leftovers and other toaster oven fare are what we use it for.  The one we have flips up on the counter for storage which helped convince my wife to give it a try.  She hates clutter and especially kitchen gadgets.

I'm the same as Toxic.  There are only 2 of us in the house, so we don't need the big oven for much anymore.  As noted its great for frozen things.  You can also do roast potatoes just as well as you can in a big oven.  Olive oil, cut up potatoes, and some seasoning.  Put it on convection cook and its great.  I imagine you could toast a bagel pretty well in it too like in a toaster oven.
