Morning,

Is anyone familiar with this rod? How does it handle heavier SBs (1oz)? Is it good for chatterbaits and/or smaller squarebills?

Thanks,

Paul

I have this rod and use to use it for super spook Jr and other half oz topwater. Tried one knocker spooks and that seemed to be the most I would throw on it comfortably. Anything around 7/8 oz seemed to be pushing it. For half oz it works really well, but I wouldn't go much more than that. Actually went back to my xxx Super Orochi for my topwater so I really don't use it anymore. I know - $500 for a rod I don't use anymore, but I had to get it to find out ?

I considered the Blade a while back but ended up with the Super Destroyer. I have thrown 6in Magdrafts on it with no issue. I have thrown a few crankbaits on it but nothing below 1/2oz.  In general, this rod is capable fishing almost anything.

Also, if you are looking to get a P5, I would do it soon. I just noticed the prices have changed on the Megabass US website but not as of yet at most tackle websites.

Thank you so much, for making me feel better about my nearly new $189 rod I don't use anymore. I appreciate you. Oh, and Welcome Aboard!!! ?

Thank you! I've actually been following this site for 8 years or so. Just felt I needed to weigh in on the P5 Blade. Really like the rod - the balance and build quality is amazing, but I just don't have a use for it. At least right now anyway. Hopefully I will sometime soon, but of course that means buying another reel ? It's a vicious circle.
