It happen somewhere in Texas if I were betting man, and the bait he caught with matters none imho.

He has figured out a way to target isolated DD fish offshore during the winter with LiveScope.    He had a legendary week last year during the winter IIrc as well.    A 17lb fish was caught, he caught a 14lb fish, and several other DD fish were caught.   There is group of guides who are kind of tapped into this, as it was trip with 4 guides, JJ being one of them.

He illustrates perfectly the duality of LiveScope.....it's without a doubt already taking down records like the 10lb Erie Smallmouth recently, and here for the largest single day "stringer" on a public lake.   On the other hand only a select few savants on the tech have managed to weld it in a manner that seems almost like cheating or magic, or whatever you want to term it.

The MFL pros over the summer showed the power of LiveScope in competent hands with SMs, but a few of these guys know something nobody else does about DD LGMs.

Milliken fishing on youtube breaks down ffs somewhat often and he gets into lots of bigs.  I feel like I'm learning, but it hasn't translated yet and possibly never will to non ffs fishing.  The biggest takeaway so far, is ffs allows real time feedback if your lure gets their attention.  Size, depth, and triggering action seem to be the keys once they're found.  They don't work an area, they work A fish.

He uses a 6th Sense Braid Swim Jig, white, weedguard removed, no trailer. He finds a fish 100 feet out front, waits and flips his cast past the fish, reels it by them slowly and they eat. It's the same presentation he uses with his Alabama rig fishing. It's fascinating to watch and I'm really curious what lives in that lake. Can we see a 20 soon? Is there a 10lb smallmouth?

One of his guide buddies and another FFS guru caught a 17+ last Winter. I bet we see an 18 this Winter. https://www.gameandfishmag.com/editorial/lunker-bass-biggest-in-texas-in-30-years/458368?fbclid=IwAR1pdFph3UfS0_wfRhuZY_CllvEnLTpzsg_u6tXzrIUDrJ5jIX8sdoFLXCY

He just posted a one page tease that says 61.37 coming soon.

I'd love to know how far apart those 5 fish were, that's amazing!

Here is the pic from the Toyota Sharelunker Program banquet for last year. Anyone that catches a 13+ and donates it for spawning, get's a free replica mount. Note Josh has two! Texas Parks and Wildlife had a problem with fish mortality after spawning them in the past. Because of that, a lot of anglers do not participate so the number of giants caught is much more. It appears they figured out the best way to handle the fish as every one of these big girls was released in the lake she was caught.

I went down to Lake Murvaul last feb and rented a jon boat for 4 days and caught my PB twice.  If you don't move, maybe a well timed vacation will do.

What were your PBs? Any pics? What'd you catch them on? That's awesome!

Terrible pics, but they're here.  1st was from the pier, 1/2oz gp/shad jackhammer w/ 4.5" gp/chart swimmon.  2nd was a 100mm river2sea D walker in ice white on a flashy swimmer.

Look at those bellies...good stuff! Did you get a weight on them? I love the D-Walker. Makes a great swim jig trailer as well.

No, just guesses.  The biggest was 25.25 long and 18.5 girth.  My guess is a good 9.  The other is high 7's in my mind.  D walkers are irresistible to fish and so long lasting.  Definite fave of mine.

Why isn't he entering the elite series and using this method of 'sight fishing'?

All but a few are using FFS now. Plus he gets $1K a day guide fees and has the same sponsor type deals.

My guess is his goal is vastly bigger than competing in fishing tournaments.   The man wants to etch his name in Bass fishing history and lore.

He's pursuing history more than a career.   Dude sleeps for days at a time in the back of his truck/rig while travelling all over looking for the next headline fish.

Beyond that, he gets paid big money by the best tourney Bass fisherman in the country to learn FFS.  He still guides, but I couldn't even imagine how much he's charging, and how long you'd have to wait to fish with him.

As also noted, he's sponsored up like a tourney fisherman as well.

He posted a video about 24hrs ago of him losing a 13lb fish.    He was watching the fish on FFS and you can see him set the hook on her, talk about a huge rod bow.

That was something. That happened to me once...except mine ended up being a huge log. ?‍♂️

Haha, I thought that rod was gonna snap.   What a feeling that must be to know you are setting the hook on a monster, and then you feel the load of its weight on the rod.

I'd get Bass Fever, I'd be shaking like a leaf.    Every time I catch a 5lb+ fish I shake.   When I stop shaking, I'll know it's time to quit :)
