Kinda like how you cant tell tone in a text message..the word OK can be acceptance, a question or even condescension. Without that your left to decipher it based on your current mood, the way you perceive the conversation to be going and your preconceived notions of the person your talking to. That's a dangerous combination.

That said I've had very few bad interactions here...the positive ones, coupled with ones where I learned something greatly outnumber the negative ones. There are jerks everywhere, just far fewer here from my experience and I just work around them. Guess if that changes ill call it a day, but until then I quite enjoy what @Glenn has created here.

ok boomer ???

I don't think it's just forums/the internet. Five of us at lunch today. One person commented that they had never seen anyone eat a grapefruit with a grapefruit spoon before. Three of us were like, umm, no that's the only way to eat a grapefruit. Everyone proceeded to giving their POV etc. No feelings appeared to be hurt but it certainly resembled the start to this post lol

Btw I was the grapefruit eater. Alright let the comments fly about how bitter and nasty grapefruits are lol

Grapefruits are delicious...I should have them more often.

There’s really no reason not to get the JDM grapefruits at this point, with the exchange rate. But be forewarned- the JDM grapefruits are just rebranded USDM oranges…

My aunt in FLA used to have a grapefruit tree, she would bring us the whole trunk of her car full!! Not sure if that’s legal……. Can confirm it was tasty

With only 1h 20mins left in the day my streak of learning something new every day continues.

I’ve never heard of a grapefruit spoon.

I’ve never heard of a grapefruit spoon.

It's one of those rarely used, specialty items...like lobster forks.

It’s like a spoon…but more dangerous and less useful…unless you like grapefruit on the half shell

Two things I’ve learned today.

We’re on a roll!

I can attest a grapefruit spoon does not make it taste any better....or worse.

A distinction without a difference.

I don't do many forums because I don't enjoy arguing with people just because they disagreed with the opinion or experience I shared, which is kind of one of the main points of a forum. I read a few others, but rarely participate. This has been the only one that I felt was actually ran in a way that allowed people to participate in conversation and debate without having to worry about someone berating them or getting in a peeing match.

Lobster forks?!  Bah!  A skilled lobster consumer can do it all neatly with their bare hands.  Well maybe a shell cracker....

I never understood the folks who get riled up by forum posts.  Just do the silent uh huh OK in my head and move on.  I personally love forums, particularly ones populated with a good mix of experienced and adventurous folks like this one is.  The knowledge and experiences shared on forums, in a somewhat organized and searchable format is invaluable.

When I ordered my first new diesel pickup in 1999, without the old Ford-diesel forum, I would have innocently driven it off the lot and been  blithely unaware of all that I was missing.  Thanks to that forum, shortly after delivery, it went to the 4x4 shop and had the right bedliner sprayed in, Excursion heated tow mirrors controlled by an Explorer defrost switch installed, a CR Lawrence power sliding rear window, air horns, propane injection, etc...  Think it was another 10k bill.  Ahhh, then there was rimfire central a few years later, custom 10/22 builds, learned about Volquartsen 17HMR and WSM semi autos, Kidd 2 stage triggers, and the gophers forever lived in fear.  It was and still is glorious.

We won't get into how much I've spent lately and have planned for the near future based on just this forum alone.  I use forums to learn from folks who have been there and done that and am enjoying myself that much more as a result. I enjoy sharing what I've learned and maybe being able to help someone else out in some small way as well.   I am humbly thankful for the depth and breadth of knowledge shared here. Now I'm off to continue digging through old tackle posts, I'm somewhere on page 149 I think...

I love to read about some of the extreme measures people will go through to catch a bass.
At one of the club tournaments last year all the guys were talking about line: braid, floro..etc and what leaders and knots. One of the guys ask me what leader knot I used and I said I was fishing straight mono. They were dumbfounded!

To further emphasize my point...second place that day went to a young guy fishing out of a 10ft Jon boat.

1. My 2016 truck has “Adaptive Headlights” that I can turn on and off.  It controls the high beams via sensors.

2. Lobster forks are for sissy’s.  Oyster shucking knives are a necessity.

I moderate a few forums and I am a member of probably 20.  I get a kick out of the Silverado forum I am in because you would think it’s a site set up to gripe about every little thing you can find wrong on your truck.  99% of the problems are self inflicted.  I have a rule that I don’t post anything on any form that I wouldn’t say to someone’s face.
